Looking for an environmentally-friendly and vegan way to take care of your skin? Then you should be looking for castile soap! This stuff is multi-purpose to tackle cleaning in your home as well as for use in your beauty routine.
Made from vegetable fat without any animal products, the original was made with olive oil that hailed from the Castile region of Spain. These days, you’ll find it with a variety of other vegetable-based oils like hemp, coconut, and avocado, to name a few.
So, should you be using it? Yes! Though perhaps the better question is how?
Smell and feel fresh
Castile soap makes a great base for your own natural deodorant. Say goodbye to chemical formulas and use a half teaspoon of castile soap with one teaspoon of sea salt, shake it up in a spray bottle and spritz under your arms.
Wash your hair
You can ditch those store-bought shampoos when you have castile soap too. Mix a tablespoon of it with water and lather up for clean hair you can feel good about. One word of caution though - if you have color-treated hair, it can strip the color away.
Cleanse away the day
Castile soap can also be used on your face and body. In particular, it’s great at killing off the bacteria that causes acne. Just a few drops is all it takes to get clean and refreshed from head to toe. On the face, it’s great at taking away stubborn makeup at night so you’ll sleep with clear skin and a clear conscience too.
Turn it into hand soap
It’s more important than ever to keep hands clean these days. Never worry about having hand soap again by making your own with castile soap. Just add two tablespoons to 12 ounces of water. Adding a half teaspoon of essential oil can help you create your own scent!
Replace shaving cream
Get smooth legs, underarms and bikini lines with castile soap. Simply lather up a little in your hands, apply, and shave. Combining with a little carrier oil will add more moisturization to skin to soothe it and keep it looking calm.
Soak your feet
If your feet are tired after a long day, soak them with two teaspoons of castile soap added to a basin of hot water. Uplift or relax with the essential oil of your choice for a more aromatic experience. Your feet will feel amazing after 20 minutes!
Or soak yourself
Better yet, why not give yourself the royal treatment with castile soap? Instead of just soaking your feet, add it to your bathtub along with a carrier oil to deliver more hydration to your skin.
Castile soap is a great addition to your beauty routine though you should use a water softener or it will leave a white residue behind. You’ll be able to use it to clean your home too, but with the wonderful and natural benefits for your skin, you just might want to hoard the whole bottle for your own personal use!
