10 Natural Ways To Keep Your Skin Looking Younger

Having beautiful skin makes you look younger and healthier. With so many creams and serums on the market, it's hard to know what to select. Instead of worrying about the latest trends in skincare, you can achieve radiant skin right at home. Here are ten natural ways to keep your skin looking younger.

1. Get Enough Exercise

Did you know that exercise and your skin are directly related? When you exercise, blood flow increases, delivering oxygen all over your body, including your skin. One of the best exercises you can do is swimming, especially if you have your own pool. Having access to the water any time you want is the best reason to find an affordable in ground pool cost for your yard.

2. Moisturize Every Day

Skin thrives when it's moisturized so make sure you feed it daily. You don't have to use the most expensive moisturizer available, either. Choose a quality cream that contains peptides or ceramides to keep your skin resilient.

3. Stay Hydrated

One of your best friends for keeping skin supple is a glass of water. Drinking enough water every day will keep your skin and other body organs healthy. If you're easily bored with water, try adding a slice of citrus or sip on caffeine-free herbal tea.

4. Eat Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are like the Fountain of Youth for your skin when you eat them regularly. The more colorful they are, the more antioxidants they provide. Think of blueberries, raspberries and dark leafy greens. Also be sure to eat plenty of hydrating fruits and veggies such as strawberries, watermelon and cucumbers.

5. Use Sunscreen

You've heard so many warnings about not using sunscreen and that's because they're true! The sun's dangerous ultraviolet rays are the most damaging thing that can touch your skin, so apply an SPF 30 or higher even if it's cloudy. Sunscreen reduces your chances of getting skin cancer and wrinkles.

6. Consume Healthy Fats

If you struggle with dry skin, one way to keep it looking younger is to consume more foods that contain healthy fats. Foods such as flaxseeds, olive oil, nuts and avocados nourish your skin and keep it bright. Fatty fish like salmon, tuna and herring also contain vitamin E which protects the skin from free radicals.

7. Always Remove Makeup

Despite your best intentions, sometimes you're just too tired to remove your makeup at night. This is damaging because that makeup holds on to all the dirt and grime that touched your face all day. It also doesn't allow your skin to breathe while you sleep. Always take time to remove every trace of makeup and apply a rich moisturizer before hitting the sheets.

8. Get Plenty of Sleep

Speaking of sleep, getting enough shut-eye is a huge benefit for your skin. During sleep, your skin begins to repair itself due to elevated melatonin. When you don't get enough sleep, you interrupt this essential process. Lack of sleep can result in dark circles, fine lines and older-looking droopy skin.

9. Take a Collagen Supplement

Collagen is an important protein found throughout your body and skin. Unfortunately, it begins to break down with age. Taking a supplement is an effective way of building your collagen back up. Powdered supplements have no flavor and are easily added to your favorite morning beverage.

10. Exfoliate Twice a Week

Exfoliation twice per week will remove dead skin and dirt making your face look dewy and fresh. When choosing a product for exfoliating, opt for an alpha-hydroxy acid which exfoliates by dissolving dead skin cells instead of applying a harsh scrub. Using a washcloth daily is also a great way to exfoliate your skin.

If you're longing for more youthful-looking skin, you'll find everything you need right at home. From drinking more water to getting enough exercise and improving your sleep, you'll be on your way to a better complexion starting right now.
