Summer is the time of year to be outdoors, and you shouldn’t forget to put on your sunscreen if you plan to get out and enjoy the warm sunshine. Sunscreen can do a lot of good for your skin, and it’s important that you apply enough sunscreen to all areas of exposed skin to give yourself better protection.
Sunburns are never fun and applying sunscreen before you go out is one of the best ways to avoid a sunburn.
You can avoid looking like a ripe tomato if you are fair-skinned and apply enough sunscreen to keep your skin from getting red from a sunburn, but you should still wear sunscreen even if you have a darker skin tone to keep your skin from getting burned by the sun’s intense UV light.
You also won’t have to deal with the pain and skin peeling that usually occurs with sunburns if you use enough sunscreen.
If you don’t want to look older, wearing sunscreen can help your skin maintain its youthfulness. Sunlight is known to cause more wrinkles on the skin thanks to UV radiation, and the sun can also dehydrate your skin and make it look older.
Sunscreen can block many of the sun’s bad effects and help keep your skin moisturized. Sunspots, which can also make the skin look older, can additionally be avoided if you apply sunscreen as part of your summertime routine.
Sunscreen can give your skin extra nourishment and improve your skin’s quality even more. For example, something like a mineral antioxidant sunscreen SPF 50+ may contain aloe vera, green tea, and other ingredients that are known to be good for the skin.
A sunscreen with pomegranate extract as an ingredient can also help prevent skin aging and inflammation.
Skin cancer can affect people of all ages and skin types, and sun exposure without sunscreen can significantly increase your chances of getting this type of cancer. Melanoma, which is considered to be the deadliest form of skin cancer, can develop on unprotected skin that receives regular sun exposure.
Even the less-deadly skin cancers, such as basal and squamous cell carcinomas, can scar the skin and cause other disfigurements if they aren’t treated in their early stages.
In addition to your swimsuit and summer clothes, sunscreen should be worn whenever you’re out having fun this summer. When you apply sunscreen regularly during the summer, you’ll be able to enjoy all the best things about the season while saving your skin from harm.

]]>If you log into your social media account, there is a chance one of the reels will be about skincare tips. Skin care is where it's at these days. With all the products and different ingredients, it can feel like your head is spinning. Do not rush to pick the "best" products as advertised. Instead, create a routine that will care for your natural skin and give you the best results.
There are many benefits associated with natural skin care. Some of these include:
The fact that they are chemicals-free means your face will not be exposed to harsh chemicals, leading to irritation and breakouts.
The ingredients used in the natural skincare routine are allergies tested, so you will not experience any allergic reactions.
Products used in a natural skincare routine have natural antioxidants and enzymes. They may also help eliminate toxins from your skin and clear up breakouts or acne scars naturally.
When creating a natural skin routine, you might need to consider the following:
Skin type is the starting point when creating a skin routine. You will need to identify your skin type to create the kind of routine you need.
Age is another factor that needs to be considered. The last three products may not suit your skin if you are under 20 or above 80.
If you have skin problems, such as acne, wrinkles, or acne scars, then make sure you are making changes in your routine to care for those issues.
What you put on your face can cause toxins which will cause irritation and lead to breakouts. So, avoid harsh chemicals that may react with your skin.
You can create a skincare routine that involves morning and evening care. Ensure you stick to the routine and practice patience to get the best results.
Cleansing your face is the first step. There are many kinds of cleansers, including oil, to help remove the oil produced by your face. You can choose a cleanser with a mild acid and an oil base.
Toners are used to balance the acid you applied after cleansing. You can use a toner made from essential oils and natural extracts.
Moisturizers are used to lock all the products in your skin. You can choose a moisturizer with natural ingredients for skincare and antioxidants for healthy, glowing skin. If you have dry lips, it would be best to try natural lip balm.
If you have a problem with your skin, such as uneven tone or breakouts, it is best to use products made to care for those issues. You can even ask your doctor for a recommendation if you need one.
Make the evening routine like the morning routine. The only difference is that you should use an anti-aging product at night because your skin regenerates at night, and it is essential to treat your skin well.
You can also consider adding treatment to the evening routine. Treatments are crucial to give your skin what it needs.
The product's price is another factor you should consider when looking for the best natural products for your skin. Some products are more expensive than others, which does not mean they are better for you just because of their price. You can always find a good product at a reasonable price.
Another factor to consider is the availability of the products. If you cannot get your hands on the products, it can be hard to care for your skin. Research online and see if you can find them in your area.
The ingredients are an essential factor because certain ingredients may be harmful to your skin or too harsh and should be avoided.
Following a natural skincare routine will allow you to care for your skin naturally. When creating your routine, it is essential to consider your skin type and age. You can now create a routine that will work for your skin, giving the best results.

]]>Caring for your skin starts by cleansing it the right way. Sounds easy, right? However, not many people in the U.S. know how to wash their faces properly. A study shows that there is a high percentage of men and women who use the same bath or hand soap to cleanse while some only use water.
More than that, over-washing can also be harmful. You might think that scrubbing your skin extra hard will get rid of dirt and grime, but so do the natural vitamins that protect its outer layers. So, it’s essential to know the what’s and how’s of cleansing to achieve glowing skin.
Washing your face is the core part of taking care of your skin, so you have to make sure that the products and routines you are using and doing are compatible with your skin type. Don’t worry! It’s simple and easy once you get the hang of it! Here are some notes on face cleansing that can guide you on your skincare journey.
From foaming to oil and water-based, there are a variety of cleansers available in the market nowadays. However, you must be careful in choosing which one to use.
What worked for famous influencers you see online might not work for you. So, it’s best to know about your skin type first to save you from the trial and error process—and oil cleansing mistakes!
If you have acne-prone skin, it’s best to use a foaming cleanser with ingredients like salicylic acid, which helps clean your pores. Benzoyl peroxide is also effective as an exfoliating agent for your skin, killing germs and excess oil.
One of the most common mistakes of face cleansing is its frequency. You should wash your face when you wake up to remove the saliva and other germs from your sheets or pillows.
Cleansing your face after you come home from work or errands is also essential to remove the dirt and sweat that accumulated on your face throughout the day.
However, most Americans do not wash their faces at night according to studies. So, to achieve a youthful look, ensure that before sleeping, your skin is squeaky clean. It’s also one of the ways to prevent acne!
Washing after a gym session or an extraneous activity should also be a must. Excessive oil is one of the key causes of pimples and breakouts, so getting rid of it would be better for your skin.
The skin is often exposed to a lot of environmental factors. From varying temperatures and sweat to dust and pollution, it serves as the first barrier of protection. It’s elastic, but at the same time, it is also one of the most sensitive parts of your body.
So, when cleaning your face, remember to do it gently. Instead of rubbing, use your fingertips to distribute the cleanser on your face. Don’t scrub. Just pat and massage your face in a circular motion to avoid essential oils and barriers to peel.
It also helps in improving blood circulation. After that, rinse carefully and continue to dry it with a clean towel.
You’ll know when you are cleansing your face wrong—or using products not suited to your skin type—when it feels too tight and stretched out. Remember, washing doesn’t have to belong for it to become effective. Cleanse “just right” in a quick yet thorough manner.
There will be times when a cleanser won’t be enough. Coming home after wedding events or a Friday night out will leave you with a lot of cosmetic products on your face. During these times, you must not try to scrape off the makeup during the first rinse. Try “double cleansing” with an oil-based face wash to remove makeup with ease.
Some products are formulated to target deep-clean eye makeup. These will be helpful to remove mascara and eyeliners, But of course, do this with caution to avoid irritating the area around your eyes, especially your eyelids.
Pro tip: make sure that your hands are clean when cleaning your face!
Using cleansers with organic and natural skincare ingredients is one of the best ways to wash your face. Not only does it take care of your skin, but it’s also a way to create a sustainable routine. Deviating from mass-produced products and ensuring that they are cruelty-free will help local communities to thrive and continue.
First things first: know your skin type or combination to choose the right cleanser for your face.
Washing your face is the first step of every skincare routine. If you’re still in the process of building one, take note of these do’s and don’ts to make sure that you’re on the right track. Trust us, it’s worth it, and your skin will thank you later!

]]>If you’re in the process of healing from an injury, you may experience scarring. The skin left behind as the body heals rarely looks or feels like your normal skin. If you have scars on your body or face from surgery, an accident, or another reason it’s natural to research ways to reduce them.
Regain confidence in the skin you're in by using these three tips to help you minimize scar tissues:
Using aloe vera gel can help minimize swelling and redness to any new scars. Soon after an injury or surgery, apply aloe vera gel and then again before you go to bed at night. While many products contain aloe vera, it’s best to use organic aloe vera to prevent scar tissue from forming.
Keep in mind that organic aloe also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help you reduce redness and inflammation. Likewise, this plant can minimize irritation around your wound as well. If you bruise easily, keeping an aloe vera plant at home is an effective way to produce your own organic supply of this healing ointment.
A keloid is scarring that occurs in response to injury to connective tissue. To treat keloids, look for products that contain fish oil or retinol. This type of keloid treatment will help to fade and reduce scarring over time.
Additionally, continue to treat keloids by making sure your clothing and sheets aren't too tight on your skin as this can lead to irritation. In addition to treatment and taking preventative measures, consider talking with a professional about surgical removal.
Massaging your scar tissue can help you reduce its appearance. Regular massages will help improve circulation, reduce pain, and prevent fluid buildup. Do this regularly, two to three times using lotion or coconut oil.
As you massage your scar tissue, work on tender spots for 15 minutes at a time. Consider using massage tools made to reduce scar tissue. When using tools, massage with light taps then go harder as you work to stimulate circulation while avoiding further injury.
Scars are a natural response to injury. Though scarring is part of the healing process, your scar tissue needn’t stay with you forever. Keep this guide in mind to keep your skin healthy and make sure your scar tissue is on its way out.

]]>Genetics plays a huge role in determining what you look like. From your hair to your skin, genetics plays a big part in determining what your features will be and what your body is in store for as time goes on. This includes the development of beauty marks and blemishes, such as moles.
You never really know whether or not you’re going to develop a mole, but genetics definitely plays a role here. However, being exposed to the sun and using tanning beds can also cause new moles or make the moles you already have darker. Moles change during pregnancy and puberty as well.
All of these have a high potential for being harmless, however, sometimes moles are an indicator of a much bigger and more serious problem. Namely, skin cancer. Below are some signs to watch out for when it comes to moles.
Moles are small spots of pigment on the skin. They can have different sizes, colors, and shapes. Moles might be flat or raised. Moles are usually broken into the following three categories.
Congenital moles. These are the moles that you have had since birth. Congenital moles larger than 20 millimeters are the only ones with a significant risk of becoming cancer.
Acquired moles. These are moles that you get after birth. They are usually the size of a pencil eraser or smaller. The majority of acquired moles do not develop into cancer.
Atypical moles. These have uneven pigment with a focal darker area. This can be a genetic condition that runs in the family. If you have a lot of atypical moles, you have a higher chance of skin cancer.
If you have suspicious moles, visit a doctor. They could indicate life-threatening cancer. Look at your skin every couple of months to see if your moles have changed. If skin cancer runs in your family, you should visit your dermatologist regularly to get skin checks.
Follow the ABCDEs of melanoma. If you notice changes to any of the following, get help.
Pay close attention to new moles that develop, especially if they pop up after you are 30 years of age. If a mole bleeds, it is painful or itches, this could indicate an issue that needs to be addressed.
The majority of moles are harmless. However, your dermatologist may recommend mole removal in some instances just to be on the safe side. When the time comes to take care of the mole, the doctor or an assistant will numb the area and then shave or cut it off.
You may need a couple of stitches. The removed tissue is sent to a lab to confirm whether or not it’s cancerous.
If you have moles, do not take it for granted that they are nothing. Pay close attention to their size, shape, color, and any changes they experience. Skin cancer can be life-threatening. However, the earlier skin cancer is detected, the easier it is for it to be treated.
Be vigilant when it comes to your skin. Any abnormalities in your moles should be reported to your dermatologist immediately.

]]>Eczema is a skin condition that is pretty common in toddlers. Research says that one out of 10 children have this skin condition. Children with eczema are more likely to have dry and itchy skin. Unfortunately, this skin condition can make your toddler uncomfortable and interfere with sleep.
However, if toddler eczema is left untreated, it can cause severe health issues, such as:
While there is no known cure for toddler eczema, there are some ways in which you can eliminate the triggers. Thereby, it is wise to follow the below tips to help manage your baby’s symptoms and reduce flare-ups. So, let’s get started:
Several eczema triggers can worsen the symptoms. Some of these are:
As soon as you notice the eczema triggers, try to find ways to eliminate them. For example, if your baby’s saliva is triggering eczema, apply plain petroleum jelly to your baby’s mouth before feedings and naps.
Another best way to treat toddler eczema is to massage your baby with baby lotion. However, there are tons of products available in the market, but make sure to buy the ones which contain no chemicals. After all, these harmful chemicals can worsen the symptoms.
Thereby, choose the baby eczema lotion which is fragrance-free and contains no harmful chemicals. Baby lotion deeply moisturizes your baby's skin and eliminates the risks of dryness, itchiness, and redness.
To eliminate the risks of eczema, it is wise to bathe your little one regularly. Bathing can help eliminate dirt from your baby’s skin. When bathing your toddler, use only lukewarm water and wash the smelly parts using a fragrance-free lotion.
You need to limit the bathing time to five to 10 minutes. Use soft washcloths to clean their hands, face, and other areas of the body. Also, pat your child’s skin dry after bathing.
Scratching can lead to infection and can worsen the symptoms. There are some ways to stop your kid from scratching, such as cutting the nails, giving them cotton gloves, and distracting them from scratching.
Scratching can also lead to open sores which can lead to several skin infections and diseases.
Making a few changes in your toddler’s diet can do wonders for their skin. However, before making any changes in the diet, make sure to consult a professional doctor.
Certain foods may trigger eczema, including:
However, if you avoid these foods, your child may lack certain nutrients, such as protein, fat, calcium, and iron. Thereby, more research is to be done to back up this claim.
It’s important to begin treating your child’s eczema as soon as you notice it. It can prevent the condition from worsening, making it more difficult to treat.
However, if the tips mentioned above didn’t work well for your toddler, consult a doctor immediately.

]]>We all want to look our best, and having beautiful skin is one of the keys to looking great whether you have makeup on or not. If you're trying to find out why your skin doesn't look as good as you would like it to and what you can do about it, take a look at some of these treatments for common cosmetic skin conditions.
If you're noticed that your cheeks or even nose looks rosy even when you're not hot, out in the cold, or have any other reason why your skin would be red, you might have a mild form of rosacea. Thankfully, there's an over-the-counter treatment that will even out your skin tone called niacinamide, which you can buy for usually under $10 a bottle.
If you have acne or scarring from when you had acne when you were younger, you're probably looking for ways to make your skin glow more and get rid of the germs that causes the acne. Chemical peels can do a lot for people who need to get rid of acne and its scars on their face and even back or chest.
There are also several different types of chemical peels that an experienced dermatologist, someone like the Masri Clinic, might suggest, including glycolic peels, Jessner peels, lactic and carbolic peels, hydroquinone peels, TSA peels, and phenol peels.
Each one has its own unique benefits, and some might work better for some skin types than others.
If you've noticed that your skin doesn't bounce back as well as it used to and that you now have sagging jowls and other effects of aging that you're not completely happy about, you might be interested in getting skin rejuvenation.
FaceTite is one type of procedure that you might be eligible for, and what's great about it is that it's non-invasive, meaning that it's not surgery. Plus, you'll have less downtime when you get a procedure like this. You'll also like how natural the results look while still making a big difference in your overall appearance.
When you want your skin to look dramatically better without having to undergo the knife, know that there are a lot of non-invasive options that might make a big difference in your overall appearance. Some of these treatments can help people with scaring, the effects of aging, and even some genetic skin conditions that detract from your appearance.

]]>Your skin is the largest organ of your body. A lot of people look at skin care as a purely cosmetic issue. However, your skin can serve as a mirror to reflect areas you need to take care of on the internal level.
When you look at the price tags alongside skincare products these days, the prices continue to rise. Thankfully, there are ways you can take really good care of your skin without spending a fortune. Implement the following tips.
The sun's ozone layers continue to thin. As a result, the risk of skin cancer from sun damage continues to rise. One of the best ways to lower your risk of needing skin cancer treatments is by applying sunscreen consistently.
Throughout any given day, it's best to apply and reapply SPF 30+. In the morning, use a moisturizer that contains SPF 30+. In the afternoon, spray an SPF mist all over your face and exposed body parts to keep the protection going.
One of the reasons why people develop wrinkles so quickly is because they're dehydrated. Taking care of your skin can boil down to the fact that you need to consume more water each day. Try your best to consume your half of your body weight in ounces. When your body is hydrated, your skin will reap the benefits.
You are what you eat. If you're constantly consuming junk food, this will reflect on the health of your skin. You already must eat to live.
Use food as your medicine to heal and protect your skin. Consume foods that contain biotin, omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin C. A healthy, nutrient-rich diet that's coupled with lots of water consumption will directly impact the health of your skin without spending a fortune.
Exfoliation is a major step when you're looking to prioritize good skin care. When many people think of exfoliation, they think of scrubs with harsh granules. It's better to avoid those manual scrubs. Instead, try exfoliating serums, masks and toners as they can glide on the skin, gently lift dead skin cells and support skin cell turnover.
Just be sure your ingredient list includes some alpha-hydroxy acids or beta-hydroxy acids for the best results.
As you secure and solidify the right skincare routine, stick with it for a while before you decide that it doesn't work. Once you're consistent with the basics, it'll be easier to add various elements into your skincare routine. Don't pressure yourself to purchase all the expensive new products that beauty influencers push.
Instead, center yourself, figure out what works for you and implement these tips to save money and make your skin glow.

]]>Researchers with Harvard's Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering and John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences have found a way around the limitations of inflammation-related antibodies to treat psoriasis by using an ionic liquid (IL) combination to deliver a small interfering RNA-based treatment directly to the skin.
This breakthrough - published in Science Advances - significantly reduces levels of inflammatory cytokines and symptoms of psoriasis without systemic side effects.
Previously, small molecule-based drugs like steroids penetrated the skin to treat the condition, but they could cause skin irritation and thinning with their efficacy decreasing over time.
The antibodies that target specific inflammation-related molecules associated with psoriasis could not be delivered via the skin and were injected using needles and syringes, which limited their acceptance and could have negative systemic side effects.
The researchers used the ionic liquids - which are essentially salts that are liquid at room temperature - to stabilize siRNAs and improve their penetration across lipid-based cell membranes and enable localized gene silencing.
The researchers created a library of different ILs, then tested combinations of them to see which had the physical and chemical properties they were looking for.
This IL-based delivery platform can be easily scaled up and tuned to interface with a variety of therapeutic molecules, including DNA and antibodies.
It could also empower transdermal drug delivery for the treatment of other dermatologic skin conditions including eczema, and improve the long-term efficacy of therapies by targeting genes that mediate multiple disease pathways.
"Compared to other technologies that have demonstrated delivery of nucleic acids to the skin, our IL platform offers unique opportunities in terms of tunability, an excellent safety profile, and economical scale-up," says first author Abhirup Mandal, Ph.D., a former Postdoctoral Fellow at the Wyss Institute and SEAS who is now a Senior Research Scientist at CAGE Bio.
"We think that effective topical delivery of macromolecules will revolutionize the treatment options for debilitating dermatological disorders like psoriasis."
"Topical creams have been used to treat skin conditions for hundreds of years, but the skin is a very effective barrier against most substances, which limits their effectiveness,” added corresponding author Samir Mitragotri, Ph.D., a Core Faculty member at the Wyss Institute and the Hiller Professor of Bioengineering and Hansjörg Wyss Professor of Biologically Inspired Engineering at SEAS.
“Being able to bridge that barrier to deliver nucleic acid therapeutics directly to skin cells is a huge accomplishment in the quest for targeted, effective therapeutics,”
"Many of the innovations that biologists have been using in research for years have significant clinical potential, but most haven't achieved it because of fundamental limiting factors such as, in this case, the barrier posed by the skin,” added Wyss Institute's Founding Director and co-author Donald Ingber, M.D., Ph.D., who is also the Judah Folkman Professor of Vascular Biology at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children's Hospital, and Professor of Bioengineering at SEAS.
“This creative solution to this drug delivery problem holds great promise for enabling a new class of effective treatments that are long overdue."
A treatment for psoriasis could be repurposed to treat a rare but aggressive form of youth cancer known as osteosarcoma, according to recent findings from the Garvan Institute of Medical Research.
The findings – published in Cancer Discovery - uncover an opportunity to repurpose an existing medication and bring new hope to those suffering from osteosarcoma. Its five-year survival rate remains as low as 65 percent.
"There has been no real advance in treatments for this form of cancer in four decades - we have uncovered a new target that we know can be modulated with existing therapy," says senior author Professor David Thomas, Garvan Cancer Research Theme Leader and Director of the Kinghorn Cancer Centre.
"We hope our findings will lead to clinical trials that will provide better outcomes for patients with this rare form of cancer."
"Our search for new potential treatments for osteosarcoma began in 2013 when we investigated genetic risk factors for this form of cancer," says first author Dr. Maya Kansara, who leads the Immunobiology of Cancer Group at Garvan.
"From genome-wide association studies conducted with the U.S. National Institutes of Health we saw that variants in a gene that encodes the protein GRM4 were frequently associated with osteosarcoma.
In a mouse model of osteosarcoma, we investigated the role of GRM4, as well as a number of immune molecules, the production of which is regulated by GRM4," says Kansaras. "In our model, we discovered that the inflammatory molecule IL23 was critical to osteosarcoma formation and progression."
Therapies targeting IL23 have been investigated extensively for a number of autoimmune diseases, including arthritis, intestinal inflammation and the skin condition psoriasis.
"Drugs that block IL23 are approved and well tolerated, and on the market now for the treatment of psoriasis," Thomas added. "We are now designing clinical trials to see whether they can provide much-needed improved health outcomes for osteosarcoma patients."

]]>Product labels claiming the contents are hypoallergenic are all too common today. It seems like everyone from cosmetics and skincare brands to your favorite foods is making the claim. However, many consumers do not fully understand what it means, which can lead to serious consequences for individuals with severe allergies.
For example, if someone with a known allergy to an obscure ingredient uses a product claiming to be hypoallergenic, she may still have a reaction. You are probably wondering how that is possible.
Sadly, there is little regulation about what can be called hypoallergenic, so the word can carry several meanings. Keep reading to better understand how the term is commonly used and why understanding that matters.
Let's start here since it is the most important point, and because it is also the most confusing one. Hypoallergenic does not mean allergy-free. It is very possible that something with the label will still cause a reaction in individuals with severe or less common allergies.
People often assume the prefix "hypo" means none; however, that is not accurate — at least not according to the etymology of hypoallergenic:
Looking at that definition, it is pretty clear that something labeled hypoallergenic is made up of a substance that is less likely to cause an allergy.
So, now you know that individuals with allergies should not assume that a hypoallergenic product will be safe to use. That does not mean they are all a waste. On the contrary, individuals with sensitive skin can often benefit from using hypoallergenic products. That is because they have fewer common allergy-inducing ingredients.
The ones they do contain are often in lower concentrations. They are often excellent choices for sensitive skin shampoo and cosmetics.
If you are wondering what the difference between an allergy and a sensitivity is, you are not alone. These are commonly confused terms. An allergy is the result of an immune response where the body attacks a normally harmless substance.
A sensitivity, on the other hand, can be considered an exaggerated but otherwise normal side effect of a product. These reactions can be just as severe and potentially dangerous as an allergic one, so they should not be dismissed because of the lack of immune involvement.
This is an important point — you must know your personal allergies in order to find products that are safe to use. Seeing a doctor for allergy testing is the best way to determine exactly what products you need to avoid. Keep in mind that they can test for true immune-induced allergies, however, you may have to identify sensitivities by trial and error.
Both allergies and sensitivities can cause reactions ranging from mildly uncomfortable to life-threatening. As a result, you need to avoid those allergens or known irritants. One way to do that is by reading labels. Scan the list quickly for anything that stands out; then identify any ingredients you are unfamiliar with.
Many chemicals and compounds are known by several names, so make sure you learn all of the alternative names that your allergen can be listed under.
Unfortunately, the confusion around the hypoallergenic label can have serious consequences. Take steps to uncover your personal allergies, learn how to read labels, and choose products that will be compatible with your body's systems.

]]>With so many options for creating the glowing skin that everyone wants, it can become overwhelming to choose the right ones. These easy squeeze tricks for glowing skin are all-natural and easy to add into your routine. An easy approach to maintaining skin can produce the best results.
All skin should be treated gently and with care. Harsh scrubs, coarse exfoliators, and coarse towels can all cause small rips and cuts in the skin. These allow for germs to get into the skin and can lead to infections.
By using gentle cleansers, soft cloths, and exfoliators for sensitive skin, the skin can be cleaned and exfoliated without causing damage.
It is also recommended that warm or cool water be used on the face for cleansing. Hot water can remove the necessary oils from the skin and leave skin red, dry, and uncomfortable. Adding a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water to clean the skin will leave it clean and avoid causing discomfort or damage to the skin.
Using sunscreen is key for skin protection. This will prevent sun damage from occurring and will allow for the skin to retain its hydration even when outside. Adding a serum to your skincare routine will also help brighten the skin and provide the nutrients needed to absorb the moisture and hydration needed.
Serums can encourage a layer of protection across the skin that will protect the moisture within and prevent dry skin from occurring.
Facial masks can boost the health of the skin and encourage a healthy glow. Choose one that is high in antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, shea butter, and vitamins such as C and E. These ingredients will provide the skin everything that it needs to repair damage and protect the skin cells from any damage.
A face mask is kept on for a few minutes and then is rinsed or peeled off. Remaining in contact with the skin for five to 15 minutes allows the ingredients to soak into the skin and become fully absorbed. This provides lasting results and can offer many benefits
There are many options for skin care, and while some can be an investment, there are also several ways to care for the skin at home in an affordable way.
Simple things such as washing twice daily with a gentle cleanser and using a soft cloth and lukewarm water, using a moisturizer every day, and ensuring that you put sunscreen on every morning will help to keep your skin healthy and glowing.
Vitamins can be added through serums and face masks. Increasing vitamin consumption in the daily diet will provide skin the nutrients that are needed to keep the cells healthy. Skin should be exfoliated once a week to remove dry and damaged skin cells. Sunscreen and moisturizer are key to keeping skin from drying out and will help reduce the formation of wrinkles.

]]>Dermatology serves a vital role within the medical field, treating a range of skin conditions. However, recent studies indicate that many patients may choose not to seek help for various reasons. One prominent reason is that people want better customer service and patient satisfaction.
As a doctor's office, these qualities may seem second fiddle to helping illness; however, if customers remain unhappy or dislike a place, they may not return, leaving physicians with fewer appointments and revenue. To keep the practice running well, focus on how others enjoy and receive their care.
The following are three reasons to prioritize patient satisfaction.
Patients of any medical provider want to feel good when they're in the office. Although there are likely to be times of nervousness, overall, the general demeanor should be pleasant, kind and soothing.
Therefore, dermatologists should keep their patients happy at all points in their interactions. Otherwise, physicians may see their patients less often or lose customers to other practices or locations.
As professional experts with skin healing, dermatology benefits patients in many areas. People, though, have to seek out their help. That is more likely to happen if they like the establishment.
For instance, what happens if someone has a scar from a fall, failing to use a step ladder correctly. The dermatologist could assist with the wound's healing, minimizing the scar tissue.
Patients who trust and like the office may pick up and call right away, scheduling a consult and willing to pay for the visit. Those customers with negative prior experience may choose to go to the drug store and try an over-the-counter product first, avoiding negative interactions. Encourage additional visits by helping others feel good about coming to your place.
Today's personal care market battles the dermatologist's efforts. Many companies now promote skin health and vigor, expanding options to customers who prefer a spa-like environment to an office setting.
Do people want to sit in a small room or lounge in a relaxing venue? For some, that's not a tough call. They relax in a chair, getting Botox or a facial without seeing a doctor.
However, with continuous excellent experiences, some of this attention could turn back to the medical field. Consider a solution selling as a prominent practice, giving your patients the services they want in a way that they enjoy. Offer skincare regimens or treatments in ways that others desire them.
When you create the sought-after solutions to patient needs and provide reliable, comforting service, your patients could stay with you because they value expertise and get proper treatment.
Although many of your patients have health insurance, they still must pay for a visit. Copays and deductibles continue to climb, forcing many patrons to spend money out-of-pocket. These costs add up quickly for families.
If your clients see the price tag without much value or pleasantness, they may skip the appointment and choose alternate options that don't stretch the budget.
However, if your establishment continues to demonstrate successful care with a welcoming atmosphere, your customers may prioritize this appointment rather than neglect it.
Dermatology has a lot of competition out there. To encourage people to come to the practice, you must view patient satisfaction as essential. Because while the doctor may know best, the customer may not feel that way at first.
Therefore, build those relationships, and demonstrate accurate diagnosis and treatment within a setting that people like. Putting the customer's priorities and feelings first could improve retention and bolster your overview revenue.

]]>Red light therapy is an emerging treatment that shows a lot of promise for alleviating skin problems such as scars, acne, redness, wrinkles, age spots, and other signs of aging. Many experts back the effectiveness of this completely natural therapy that comes with nearly no side effects.
While more full-scale research still needs to be done, there have been many studies that found a great potential for the benefits of using red light therapy at home. The body needs light naturally, and our cells respond to certain wavelengths differently.
Visible red light, as well as invisible, near-infrared red, stimulates the cells to produce more energy. Specifically, ATP is the compound that energizes all functions within the cells. When cells have more energy they can function more effectively, thus repairing tissue and reducing inflammation.
Research has found that visible red light with wavelengths between 610 and 670 nm, as well as near-infrared light between 680 and 750 nm, can penetrate the skin up to five mm. This means that the light does not just stop at the skin surface but actually affects all the cells beneath the skin as well.
In the 1990s, NASA scientists discovered that using red light assisted plant growth in space. After that, research was conducted to find out if RLT could also be used to heal bone density problems, muscle atrophy, slow wound healing, and other health issues that plagued astronauts due to the low-gravitational environment of space.
Since then, it has been found to have serious health benefits for the skin, as well as other ailments. For example, it has been developed for use in cancer treatment via photodynamic therapy.
Studies have shown the wide-ranging benefits of RLT on the skin.
Especially:
This treatment is widely considered to be completely safe. After all, we already experience red light wavelengths through going into the sun. But if the unit you are using isn't made properly, for example, if there is electronic corrosion, you could be burned or shocked.
So be sure to only use reliable products, and never use an RLT device that is suspiciously cheap or potentially broken.
There are many ways to try RLT, including trying it out at a tanning salon, spa, gym, or dermatologist's office. If you want an easy way to get affordable, continuous care, though, there are many reasonable options available online.
As previously mentioned, only ever buy from a reputable company that has a lot of good reviews. There are a ton of devices available in many different sizes and types.
Make sure you know exactly what you need for the condition(s) you want to treat. For example, know whether you should get a device that emits only visible red light, non-infrared light, or both.
Also, the size you need will be based on what area you want to treat. There are huge tanning-bed style devices for full body treatment as well as tiny wands that you can use for direct spot treatment.

]]>While it is an often-used term, many people do not know what SPF actually means or how to determine the one that is the best fit for their needs. The Sun Protection Factor describes how long the sunscreen will protect the skin from damaging rays, and the higher the SPF the more efficiently it filters, and the fewer rays get through.
Any of the sunscreen options chosen will require re-application and many will only protect against UVB rays or UVA rays, while a full spectrum will protect against both.
UVA rays are the rays from the sun that are long and that get deep into the skin causing damage such as aging the skin, including wrinkles and sagging skin, and can potentially lead to skin cancers.
UVB rays in contrast are short waves that affect the surface layers of the skin and will cause typical sunburns, damage the outer layers of skin, but can also lead to skin cancer. For these reasons a full-spectrum sunscreen should be used when possible as it will offer protection from all of the UV rays and deter formation of skin damage and cancer.
As mentioned above, when choosing an appropriate SPF it is important to know what the Sun Protection Factor is. This protection factor shares how long and how much of the sun’s rays the skin is protected from. SPF 15, for example, would protect the skin from damage for 15 times longer than the skin would be safe when outside with no sunscreen at all, and stops a little over 90 percent of the UV rays.
In comparison, an SPF 30 filters out over 95 percent and SPF 50 even more. These protections do not stop all sunburns and skin damage from occurring but provide an increased time frame before the damage begins. To maintain this protection it must be used as recommended.
To ensure sunscreen is offering the best protection available it must be reapplied often. For those that are not waterproof it should be applied each time it gets wet - even and when sweating occurs.
All sunscreen should be reapplied every two hours, though some may say four hours on the bottle. It is important to read the instructions and recommendations for the specific sunscreen in use.
When choosing your sunscreen there are many decisions to be made. Sunscreen is available in spray, lotion, and even gel, and with a range of SPFs. Your chosen SPF will affect how long you can remain outside in the sun without receiving damage to the skin.
When choosing a UVA, UVB, or broad spectrum, your SPF will allow you to choose what type of protection you require, though broad spectrum is a safe choice that will offer protection from both kinds of UV rays.

]]>Completing a skin check is a necessary step to maintaining your health and ensuring there are no concerns that should be addressed, helping to avoid late detection of skin cancers or other health risks. To complete one is fairly easy and can be done alone or a friend or family member can help with areas such as the back and scalp.
During a skin exam check for discolorations, moles, freckles and other marks or blemishes, and any tattoos or piercings, and note any changes during the next exam. These should be done routinely, for healthy adults once or twice a year, while those who are at high risk for cancers and others should do one every few months or even once a month.
Using a wall-mounted mirror can make it easier to complete, and a handheld mirror can be used for harder-to-see areas such as the back of the legs or back of the shoulders.
To begin, face a mirror and check the face, the ears - and behind the ears, using a hand mirror. Inspect the neck and the chest; for women it is necessary to check the breast area and underneath as well.
A hand mirror may be needed to check the back of the neck as well and check the scalp underneath the hair to the best of your ability using both your hands and looking in the mirror. Look at the back of the hands and the palms, including underneath the fingernails and between the fingers, looking for any new freckles, blemishes, marks, and checking any scars.
Next, check the arms, lifting each arm over your head to see the armpit and the underneath the arms on each side. It is important to check both the back and the front, and as your arm is raised you can inspect the side of the body from arm to waist.
Look at the stomach and the rest of the torso, checking as much of the back as you can with your wall mirror and hand mirror before sitting down to move to the legs and the feet.
When checking the legs begin in a sitting position to see the thighs and work down towards the shins and the top of the feet, the toes, between the toes and underneath the toenails. Inspect the bottom of the feet by bringing the foot up to the other knee or use a hand mirror underneath the foot.
Move the hand mirror up the back of the legs from the ankles to the thighs. Continue to move the mirror up the back of the body to check the buttocks and lower back. It is best to conduct a skin check after a bath or shower to remove all dirt.
When doing a skin check it is important to look for any changing growths including moles, any freckles or dark spots including age spots and sunspots, rough patches and dry areas, bumps or any noticeable growths under the skin.

]]>Potentially toxic ingredients exist, and unfortunately, a number of these chemicals are allowed in beauty formulas everywhere. But the modern consumer these days has become more educated on what goes into their favorite skincare products.
We all want ageless, healthy complexions, and the best place to start is with Mother Nature and the wonderful bounty she provides.
Clean beauty is a movement, and it's about time. According to the experts, clean beauty can be defined as a product that is safe for both people and the planet, which uses a nontoxic element as a baseline and plant-based ingredients for active results.
It's all about becoming more aware of what's going into your beauty products and choosing ethical ingredients.
When you switch to clean beauty formulas, you don't have to worry about ingredients that can trigger allergies, contact dermatitis, and skin irritation. No one wishes to develop any of these reactions.
Natural and organic products don't include synthetic offenders such as sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfate (SLES). These well-known chemicals are found in a lot of hair and skincare formulas.
That's right. Even our personal care products often contain synthetics that can disrupt our hormones or endocrine system. Another nasty chemical happens to be parabens, and this one can increase the risk of breast cancer and reproductive toxicity.
Phalates are another hormone disruptor, and you would be wise to avoid this in products for the hair and skin.
The last thing you want to do is worry about the formulas you are applying to your complexion. We all look for exceptional, anti-aging products that help soften fine lines and wrinkles, boost collagen production, and firm up the skin, but you want to ensure that these formulas are safe and healthy for your body.
Brands such as Laurel Skin Care offer potent plant formulas for the complexion that feature purity and ancient tradition with certified organic ingredients that are safe and gentle for all skin types.
Let's be honest here. Many of us buy lots of beauty and/or personal care products. Some are expensive, and some are not, and oftentimes, we become disappointed because these formulas caused irritation, didn't perform as advertised, and busted our budget.
When you make the switch to clean beauty, you are getting products that have been thoughtfully prepared, are pure, and are from ethical sources. These organic creams, serums, lotions, etc. are developed to balance your skin type and deliver natural ingredients to do their work. You don't have to concern yourself with hidden synthetics that can damage your skin.
You know when a product just isn't right for your complexion. The formula may feel uncomfortable on the skin, turn your complexion red, cause breakouts, etc.
When you choose clean beauty, you're getting high-quality elements that are safe for all skin types and help to keep your skin's natural balance.
Each day, we all use products that contain toxins from laundry detergent to scouring powders and more. It's healthy to begin a slow detox and to start with the products you use on your face and hair.
Choose clean beauty formulas for washing your face, removing makeup, and applying skincare products. The same goes for your hair in clean shampoos and conditioners. After that, move on to body products.
It's empowering when you take the reins yourself. The beauty industry isn't regulated, so you have the power to buy products that are made with clean ingredients that are healthy for your lifestyle.
Best of all, you can shop for non-toxic formulas online, where quality and variety are accessible.
Clean beauty feels good and looks good. Don't be afraid to make the switch. You deserve healthy skin and hair, and Mother Nature can connect you to the ideal ingredients that gently make this possible.

]]>Herbal treatments have been around for centuries. They were used by ancient Chinese and Egyptian civilizations, long before conventional medicine came into existence.
Although herbal treatments are nowhere near as popular as they once were, they still appear frequently in modern-day medicine. In this article, we're going to look at five of the most effective herbal remedies that you should consider looking into.
There is a great deal of evidence that a Ginkgo Biloba herbal treatment can help those with symptoms of aging and prevent cognitive problems. It may also improve blood flow to the brain, promote memory, and improve recovery from stroke. Other studies indicate that it is effective in treating various neuropsychiatric disorders.
Centella Asiatica is widely known in India and China. It has small green leaves and white flowers. The plant is edible and has a bitter flavor. There are many advantages of using Centella Asiatica for keloid treatment. When taken orally, it is said to reduce the formation of keloid scars.
It has been used for centuries for its wound healing properties. Its actions on connective tissues, cellular metabolism, and immunomodulation make it a suitable choice for trauma and burn care protocols. It has been reported to reduce the appearance of keloid scars and promote the regeneration of healthy tissues in keloids and ulcers.
Research has shown that ginseng can treat many conditions, including fatigue, impotence, and common colds. In cancer, ginseng is used to inhibit multidrug resistance. Similarly, ginseng reduces the frequency of tumors in patients with lung cancer.
Hawthorn is one of the oldest herbs and has been used for centuries to treat heart conditions. Among its health benefits is its ability to improve circulation.
The herb is also used as a remedy for weakened hearts. In Germany, hawthorn is often prescribed for patients experiencing the early stages of congestive heart failure. The herb can also treat other symptoms such as an increased heart rate and decreased cardiac function.
St. John's wort significantly reduces the symptoms of sinusitis, premenstrual syndrome, and bronchitis. It was also found to alleviate coughs and sore throats, making it a popular beverage for people suffering from respiratory ailments. It can be consumed as tea and is best made with a sweetener like honey.
Herbal or alternative medicine is not a cure-all for all your medical ailments. Still, it should not be used to substitute known effective treatments that have been clinically tested and approved by accredited research institutions in medicine.

]]>Niacinamide serums are created using a form of vitamin B3 that is safe for most skin types, won’t cause buildup within the pores, and can help to boost skincare in many different ways. These serums are able to create an even skin tone, reduce wrinkles, keep pores clear, reduce dry skin, and boost the barrier of the skin.
This all-around product is a great addition to any skincare routine that is seeking the most results in the fewest steps.
When choosing the serum that is right for you there are a few factors to be considered. It is important to find one that has no other ingredients that have caused allergies or irritation to your skin, and that is suitable to your needs.
There are many studies that show a two-to-five percent concentration of niacinamide is the most effective, with the higher amounts being more likely to cause irritation.
Selecting a serum that has a higher level of humectants will boost the moisture to the skin and keep dryness at bay, while a lower concentration of oils will keep it from causing an oil buildup on the skin or in the pores.
Silicones can also create a barrier against the skin and prevent the ingredients from reaching the areas of the skin where they are needed the most.
The ability of a niacinamide serum to fight free radicals will help create and maintain healthy skin that is free form wrinkles and lines and remain with an even skin tone. The damage that creates spots upon the skin are related to the damage caused by free radicals and from things like exposure to the sun.
By increasing vitamin B3 on the skin, the protective barrier that is across the skin is strengthened, reducing the ability for the UV rays to reach the skin as well as slow the damage that they cause. It will also boost the levels of nutrients that are needed to repair these cells and grow new cells to replace them. In this way it can help keep the skin even and smooth.
The solubility of these ingredients allows them to easily be absorbed by the skin and will not increase the production of oils. With a lower production of oils, the skin is easily able to absorb the nutrients included within the serum and to gain the most benefit from them.
It will also not cause a buildup within the pores, keeping the pores clear and the source of acne reduced, resulting in less acne and fewer blemishes on the skin.
Combined with other ingredients such as the humectants this serum will boost the hydration of the skin. As the skin’s natural barrier becomes stronger it will keep the moisture in the skin.
This helps protect the skin from environmental damage that occurs throughout the day, keeps it hydrated without blocking the pores, and slows the signs of aging by repairing damaged cells.

]]>If you could think of the most beautiful creature on the planet, what would it be? Chances are snails would be the furthest thing from your mind. However, snail slime - also known as snail mucin - has been a popular ingredient in Asian skincare and now it’s making more buzz in the U.S.
Sure, it sounds gross, but in the name of beauty, it might just be something to slather on your skin. Snail mucin is the excretion a snail makes, and while that isn’t the most beautiful picture to paint, this stuff is naturally brimming with everything that does make skin beautiful.
It has hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid, and glycoproteins that are wonderful for healthy and youthful skin.
For at least the last decade, it was popular in Korea. However, snail slime for skincare is a gift bestowed upon us from the Chileans. Back in the 1980s, snail breeders in Chile noticed their hands were wonderfully soft after they handled these slow-moving slimy creatures.
You’ll want to look past the ick-factor of snail mucin for the great benefits it has. First of all, the hyaluronic acid composition in it helps support a healthy skin barrier. This locks moisture in so skin stays soft and supple.
Snail mucin also has glycolic acid in it. This natural acid is essential for stimulating collagen production. As it does, you’ll notice fine lines and wrinkles smooth away. And it has the added benefit of giving you a radiant and youthful appearance.
Another thing snail slime gives your skin is zinc. Zinc is great for fighting inflammation. It’s something you likely ingest with every multivitamin, but adding it topically is great for the skin.
Allantoin is also in this slime which helps soothe and calm irritations. Basically, it’s nature’s gross but amazing gift for softer, healthier, glowing skin.
However, despite knowing what snail mucin is composed of, there’s not much research about its effectiveness on the skin. Most people can use it without any trouble, though before using snail mucin or anything new on your skin, it’s wise to test out a small patch of your skin before slathering it on all over.
For the most effective snail slime products, you should seek out ones that unite this ingredient with either retinol or antioxidants. Formulas that have vitamin C, added glycolic acid, and hydrating ingredients are a great choice. Snail mucin is most commonly added to serums or creams though if you want the most potent option, a serum will be best.
That’s especially true if your main skincare concern is fighting the signs of aging. If you’re more into preserving hydration, a cream will do just fine.
Regardless of which one you choose, you’ll be happy to know that there’s no unpleasant odor associated with it so you can forget all about what’s in your snail slime products and enjoy the benefits of more beautiful skin.

]]>Skin growths are a natural part of being human, but sometimes they can present an issue. Some common types of skin growths include moles, warts, and cysts. These growths are typically benign, but sometimes they can be precancerous or cancerous if not treated early.
If you notice any changes in the appearance of your skin that you think may be one of these growths, make sure to see your doctor or dermatologist, for example, someone like Advanced Dermatology of Northern California, right away. Discussed below are skin growths you should keep an eye on.
Moles are small, dark spots or growths that are usually flat. They can be flesh-colored, brown, or black. Moles may be round, oval, polypoid (lumpy), or flat and vary in size from a millimeter to several centimeters. Moles most commonly appear on the face and neck, but they can appear anywhere on the body.
If you're worried that your mole could be cancerous, make sure to see your doctor as soon as possible. It's important to get it checked out when it comes to any mole with colors other than flesh tone, especially those with colors such as pink, red, purple, blue, and green. These colors may indicate skin cancer.
Moles have been around since ancient times and are usually harmless. However, some moles could be precancerous or cancerous if not treated early.
Warts are small, flesh-colored bumps that grow on the body's surface. They can occur anywhere on the body but are most common on the hands, feet, face, and genitals. Warts typically form in response to infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV). There are a few types of warts: common warts, plantar warts, and genital warts.
A cyst is a fluid-filled structure that develops inside the skin or underneath it. Cysts are typically benign but can be precancerous or cancerous. They often develop on the scalp and face but can also form anywhere in your body.
They are often filled with pus and range in size from less than a centimeter to one meter or more. Cysts are painless, though they may cause discomfort if they become infected or burst.
If you notice any changes to the appearance of your skin, you should see your doctor right away as these changes could be signs of a cyst developing into something more serious such as cancer.
Finally, skin growths are a common phenomenon, so don’t be too surprised should you find any on you. Moles, warts, and cysts can easily be just harmless and annoying. However, it's still important to know the difference between benign growths and potential signs of skin cancer.
If you find yourself in a situation where you find a mole, wart, or cyst, still see your doctor for an examination just to make totally sure.

]]>Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers, but it can be hard to tell between the different types and potentially harmful. Knowing the differences between these conditions will allow you to spot them sooner and act before they become a bigger problem.
Therefore, it is important to know skin cancer and what to look out for if you suspect you might have one. This article will examine the different types of skin cancer that exist and how they can be identified.
This type of cancer is one of the most common benign skin cancers. It is considered slow-growing cancer as it tends to grow slowly, usually taking around two to three years to progress, and can potentially be cured.
Basal Cell Carcinoma is also easy to spot as it will appear in the shape of a dome or coin on the skin surface. The color can vary from flat white to red, and it is frequently found on the face, shoulders, and hands. If left untreated, they can become swollen, inflamed, and ulcerous.
Squamous cell carcinoma is a common type of skin cancer. It occurs on the epidermal (outer layer) and is very similar to basal cell carcinoma in many ways. It can be challenging to distinguish between a squamous cell carcinoma and a basal cell carcinoma, as the two can look similar under the microscope.
It can be spotted as a change in the skin and will appear to be an ulcer that has developed and does not heal. Squamous cell carcinoma can be a more serious type of cancer than basal cell carcinoma and generally needs appropriate skin cancer treatments.
Melanoma is considered by many to be one of the most dangerous types of skin cancer. It can appear in any color but is most commonly black or brown. It can also appear on the surfaces of the mouth, nose, groin, and armpits.
It can be deadly if left untreated, as it can spread quickly to other areas of the body. Melanoma is among the most malignant types of skin cancer and is extremely hard to detect early enough to treat effectively.
Knowing what type of skin cancer you have is vital as it will allow you to act, which could mean a life saved. Understanding the differences between the different types of skin cancer and what they are can help you spot them early on in the development process and get treatment as soon as possible, which could be a lifesaver.

]]>Your skin needs to stay healthy. That's not only important so it can keep protecting you, but also so you can keep looking good and feeling good about yourself. Knowing different ways to naturally help your skin stay healthy goes a long way towards accomplishing all of this.
Most of your body is made up of water, and your skin is no exception to this. The more you can stay hydrated, the better your skin is going to both look and function.
An all-natural skin lotion can do wonders for the outside of your body, whether it's simple hydration from the outside to complement the water you drink inside or something more advanced that has nutrients and vitamins your skin needs. Find something that makes you feel good and has a safe ingredient list to use once a day.
Exercise helps all of your body be more healthy including your skin. If your physical activity is enough to break a sweat, then this helps clear out pores and flush the skin of toxins and things it doesn't need to keep around.
Plastic surgery might not seem natural, but that's not the only option clinics have to offer anymore. Laser treatments and other technologies such as those at a place such as the Masri Clinic can help your skin look wonderful and achieve more health without you having to go under the knife for a surgical procedure.
The physical condition of your skin can sometimes indicate the quality of your diet. Packaged and processed foods might get you through the day but might not be great for your skin. Even if you don't go all-out organic all the time, try to eat natural and whole foods as much as possible.
There are those that think the faces of older men look better than the faces of women their same age, and part of that might be because men shave their faces their entire adult lives. Shaving is a safe and basic means of exfoliation that removes dead skin cells and encourages the growth of healthy skin.
Caring for your skin in natural ways without resorting to artificial elements or procedures is what's best for your body's largest individual organ. Consider implementing all of these different ways to help your skin stay healthy as naturally as you can to enjoy great skin for as long as possible.

]]>You may have heard some chatter about the miracles of celery juice. There are popular books, blogs, and social media groups that speak of celery juice like it is one of the top cure-alls for many health issues, including clearing up acne and blemished skin. Here is some insight into this claim, how celery juice can benefit your skin, and how to make it.
There is a lot of information about the benefits of celery juice for all types of issues. Some of these claims are facts while some might be more hype.
Most of the facts about the benefits of celery juice come from its nutritional content. Some of the hype involves unscientific claims that might just be too good to be true. Despite this divide, celery juice does hold real benefits for your body and your skin!
Here are three of the biggest benefits for skin health from celery juice. No hard to believe miracles here. Just dense amounts of the right nutrients to help clear up your skin.
One of the biggest benefits of celery juice is its ability to reduce inflammation. Celery contains micronutrients and antioxidants that are natural inflammation fighters.
When celery is juiced, all of these nutrients are concentrated and can be absorbed easily into the body. Inflammation is an issue with acne and skin breakouts along with so many other issues and is why celery juice is claimed as a cure for so many things.
Celery juice provides nutrient-packed hydration for your whole body. Your skin’s health increases when hydrated. This is particularly true when that fluid is packed with vitamins that are key to skin health like celery juice is.
Celery juice is full of nutrients like magnesium, zinc, and vitamins A, B, C, and K that are vital to healthy skin. Celery juice also has antioxidants that help the skin rejuvenate and heal.
The popular celery juice cleanse entails drinking a 16 ounce glass of fresh celery juice on an empty stomach every morning. You will need about one bunch of celery - organic is best - for each glass and it can be made in a juicer or a blender.
Making celery juice in a juicer is fast and efficient and can be made in a standard household centrifugal juicer, or for the most nutrition and juice yield, a masticating or cold press juicer is the way to go. There are lots of juicers that are great for celery but really any juicer can make you a glass.
To make celery juice in a juicer, wash and trim one bunch of celery. Cut the stalks to the appropriate size for the juicer you are using. Follow the manufacturer’s suggestions but generally, for centrifugal juicers, the stalks can run through whole, whereas cold press juicers will need the pieces to be one to two inches.
One of the great things about fresh celery juice is that you really don’t need a juicer or any fancy equipment to make it. All you need is a blender. A high-powered blender is definitely the best, but just about any blender will do.
To make celery juice in a blender wash and trim just like with a juicer. Cut stalks into about thirds but each bunch size and blender is different. For the first time, use smaller pieces to see what your blender can handle. Blend for 30 seconds to a couple of minutes until smooth.
Lower power blenders might need a splash of water to get things moving and will take longer to blend. When the mixture is smooth, pour through a strainer and let drain.
Celery juice is a nutritious addition to your diet with lots of great benefits for your skin to help clear it from the inside. But that doesn’t mean that you should leave proper skin care to the side when you start drinking celery juice. A daily routine that includes a good quality skin care product along with fresh celery juice is a path to healthy, clear skin.

]]>Dry skin can be an irritating problem in the wintertime. Excessively dry skin can actually crack and become painful. When temperatures drop and cold winds are waiting for you outdoors, you need to take extra steps to keep your skin hydrated and healthy
Your skin may seem like it’s just a layer of tissue, but it’s actually an organ. In fact, it's the largest organ in your body. Just like all of your vital organs and systems, your skin needs continual hydration in order to maintain cellular integrity.
Be sure that you are drinking the recommended amount of water per day. It's easy to forget to drink during a busy workday. When you're exceptionally busy, the impulse to drink can slip right by you and you will be thirsty without being consciously aware of it.
When this happens, the appearance of your skin may reflect dehydration. It may appear slightly dull and even gray.
Start your day with at least one or two glasses of water. You'll be extra dehydrated when you wake up in the morning and haven't been drinking during the time that you were asleep.
Try to avoid replacing water in your liquid consumption with other beverages that may satisfy your taste but want to really quench your skin's thirst. In particular, make it a point to cut out super sugary beverages such as soda, sports drinks, and concentrated juices.
Drinking an excessive amount of sugary beverages could worsen inflammation and thereby exacerbate blemishes and other irritations that are noticeable on your face and back.
When you head outside on a blustery day, one of the first places where you're really going to feel that chill is on your lips. The skin on your lips is among the most sensitive external skin on your body. It is a lot more sensitive to touch than fingertips, which are packed with sensory receptors.
The moment that you feel your lips become dry, your natural impulse will probably be to rehydrate down by licking them. However, in a cold environment, dampening your lips with saliva will offer only a moment of relief.
As soon as the cold and abrasive air temperature causes that saliva to evaporate, your lips will become even more dry and uncomfortable. Repeating this act many times on a cold day is likely to cause that delicate skin to chap and eventually crack.
You should use a hydrating product that nourishes your lips while also arming them with a barrier against the cold. Using a mango balm is an excellent option. If you should happen to lick your lips, you won't be making them more vulnerable to the elements, and you can enjoy having pleasantly flavorful mango lips.
Take Special Care of Your Hands
People’s hands are an area where wintertime skin problems are exceptionally common. While the skin on your fingertips is smooth and soft, a lot of the areas over and under your knuckles as well as your palms are kind of thick and sometimes rough.
Having two very differently textured types of skin in close proximity can make it challenging to care for the area effectively. Using a lotion or balm that’s specifically intended for use on your hands can help you tackle the area effectively. Also, always be sure to wear touchscreen gloves to spare your hands from unnecessary discomfort and cracking.
Moisturizing lotion alone may not be enough to hydrate or heal your skin during the wintertime. Using a lubricating oil can lock in moisture to your skin. And all natural oils such as almond oil or vitamin E oil are good options for soothing your skin while you moisturize it.
Cold weather can take a toll on your skin. Arm yourself against the elements and keep your skin looking healthy all winter long. Your skin will feel better, and your well-hydrated skin will look more even toned and vibrant.

]]>When you think of beauty products, they can often be thought of as items that are solely focused on improving your aesthetic appeal and look. While many products can enhance and bolden your natural beauty, the right products can also enhance your health. If you want to use products that can help your health, here are a few things that you need to try.
Your lips are constantly exposed to drying elements. Whether you are breathing through your mouth, eating, drinking or talking, there are plenty of ways that your mouth can be dried out.
Cracked lips can be uncomfortable, and in extreme circumstances can bleed, cause significant pain and be susceptible to germs. High-quality products like ultra care can help your skin remain healthy and hydrated. Not to mention that beautiful luscious lips are an element of a great makeup look.
As you think about keeping your lips properly moisturized, you should also pay some attention to the rest of your body. Keeping your body moisturized can give you the beautiful glow that you have always wanted but it can also help you avoid damage and unnecessary cracking.
Because you run into drying agents throughout your day, your body could benefit from a high-quality moisturizer.
Sun protection has often been lauded as an important part of living a healthy life. If you want to enjoy good health, you need to incorporate a higher grade of sunscreen so that you can truly enjoy all of the benefits of protected skin.
While you may be accustomed to grabbing whatever is available at your local pharmacy, there are higher-quality sun protection products that can stave off sun damage and aging and avoid contributing to environmental damage. Don’t let the sun cause you to age prematurely when all it takes is to change your sunscreen.
Your skin is an element of your body that grows and eventually replaces old cells with new ones. This means that you eventually shed the dead cells that your body no longer needs. A beauty product that can help you enjoy more attractive skin is an exfoliator.
Removing dead skin cells is a natural process, however, you can enhance it and remove unnecessary cells leaving you with more vibrant skin.
Having lustrous locks and eye-catching hair is a goal of many beauty enthusiasts. While this may be a goal of yours, blowing your hair out every day can leave it drained and fried. A beauty product worth trying is a heat protectant. This can help you protect your strands and give you that gorgeous mane that you want.
For those who don’t have the time to style their hair, the emergence of air-dry creams, serums and other concoctions has been life-changing. If you want to style a stunning look but don’t have the time to style your hair, you need to try an air-dry product.
These game-changing solutions can help you avoid putting additional heat on your hair while also giving you a gorgeous look. While this is a time-saving solution, it also requires no additional heat exposure, leaving you with healthier hair.
If you are trying out new products, you need to update your nail game. Old formulations of nail polish are both outdated and often harmful for your nails and the planet. Everything from formaldehyde to dibutyl phthalate can be found in many traditional nail polishes, however, you don’t have to expose your nail and your body to these harmful agents.
Luckily, the beauty industry has caught on and there are many cleaner nail polishes available that can give you the gorgeous nails you want without the same level of harm.
Upgrading and updating your beauty regimen to include better products can be a wise move for a myriad of reasons. Not only can better products be a smart move for a better effect with your makeup, but they can also be a smart idea for your wellbeing and health.
Beauty products can be so much more than just beautifying agents. Don’t rely on your traditional, subpar products when improved products can make the world of difference.

]]>Ditching your traditional facial cleanser for oils might come off as something radical, but skincare enthusiasts have sworn to the effectiveness of this alternative method.
Oil cleansing, as the name suggests, is the process of cleansing your skin using natural oils. In the same manner that diamonds cut diamonds, oils dissolve oils.
Contrary to the popular belief that oil-based products must never touch our faces, thousands of men and women who started using oil cleansing as part of their skincare routine have never looked back! So if you wish to try it for yourself, here are three tips that will help you get started.
To get the maximum benefits of oil cleansing, choosing the right oil is crucial. Coconut oil is primarily used for removing makeup since it is classified as comedogenic or one that clogs the pores and causes blackheads.
So while it is best for removing makeup, you’re not advised to leave it on your face. Safflower seed oil and jojoba oil are great for those battling eczema or acne. Avocado oil has been proven effective in hydrating the skin, and together with mineral-rich olive oil, it can leave your skin effortlessly smooth while getting rid of your dead skin cells.
Meanwhile, argan oil is known for being an anti-aging agent, so if you’re treating acne or dry skin, you will be better off with avocado or olive oil.
There are other oils available in the market like almond oil, castor oil, sunflower seed oil, and even apricot kernel oil. Whether you're prone to acne or you have flaky dry skin, or you simply just want to remove your makeup, there is an oil that will certainly suit your needs.
Oil cleansing is applicable for all skin types. While it is true that oil dissolves oil, oil cleansing does not strip your skin of its natural beneficial oils. Unlike traditional facial cleaners which get rid of all the germs they lay their hands on, oils leave the good germs and microbes on your skin.
If you use your traditional facial cleansers every night, you are most welcome to do that with your oils as well.
Most skincare enthusiasts who are familiar with humectants do oil cleansing every day. Since humectants make sure that the moisture is locked in your skin, oil cleansing has been a cult favorite for those with eczema and dry skin.
If you wish to do deep cleansing, you are free to do it once a week. Oil cleansing does not restrict you as these oils are free from chemicals and come with very minimal fragrance.
Just a caveat: whether you want to do oil cleansing every day or every week, invest in high-quality oils to make sure that you are getting the most out of this alternative skincare method.
Use warm water and two teaspoons of oil. You must start by rinsing your face with warm water. Calming the skin, like how you used to do it with your old facial cleanser, is a step you cannot afford to miss.
After lightly rinsing your face, use two teaspoons - or two pumps - of your chosen oil cleanser and massage it gently on your face. Notice the word “gently.” Some tend to get a bit too excited and do more harm than good when they press too firmly while massaging their faces.
Do this for a good two minutes and leave it for another minute. Unlike your traditional cleanser which you can directly rinse off with water, you will be needing a warm damp washcloth to wipe the oil off your skin. Gently wipe the oil away using this cloth at least two times or repeat until you have completely removed the oil from your skin.
Again folks, take note of the word “gently.” For best results, apply your trusted moisturizer once your skin is completely dried off.
You don’t have to be a pro at skincare to know that you must wash your make-up off and your face before going to bed. But we understand that the quest for maintaining healthy skin doesn’t stop.
Oil cleansing is great for all skin types but take extra diligence in choosing the right oil for you depending on what you wish to achieve and should you have any medical condition. You must think twice about using coconut or peanut oil for cleansing if you have experienced any adverse reaction to either of them.
Testing and researching oils before using them is recommended to avoid breakouts and allergic reactions.
As more and more studies are starting to prove the effectiveness of oil cleansing, be patient and don’t try to overdo it. As with any skincare routine, it might take a week or two before you see any visible effects.
For some, the effect is instant. But it’s not the same for everybody. It is advisable to do oil cleansing as often as you used to with your old facial cleanser.
And like with any other beauty product, if you notice any irritation or unusual breakout, it’s best to choose another oil or just try a different facial cleansing method. Remember: the best cleansing method is the one that works for you!

]]>The compound of DMAE is naturally created in our bodies. And you’ve likely heard it mentioned when it comes to eating salmon, anchovies, sardines, and other fatty fish. DMAE stands for dimethylaminoethanol, an antioxidant membrane stabilizer. In skincare, it can help with your skin aging concerns.
With DMAE in skincare, it is ideal to use it with other antioxidants like vitamins A, E, and C for example as it enhances their effects. In and of itself, DMAE delivers antioxidant protection to protect your skin cells from oxidation by those nasty free radicals.
When you use DMAE in your skincare regimen, you help strengthen your skin cells so free radicals can’t destroy them. Additionally, DMAE helps with a bit of tightening. This is what naturally happens when the cells protect themselves, forming tighter structures. As a result, your skin tightens up too.
So, tighter, firmer skin. And more radiant skin with less chance of those unsightly broken blood vessels. DMAE really does wonders for skin in that it defends it from environmental aggressors as well as the effects of time when muscles tend to sag.
Since DMAE boosts acetylcholine, which helps tone muscles, you get smoother, firmer, and younger skin. It goes far beyond that surface layer where wrinkles and lines develop to stop those aging problems where they start.
So many women stay focused on halting aging on their faces. However, a saggy neck can give away your age. In time, that skin on the neck and chest tends to sag, form deep wrinkles, and take on a crepey texture. If you don’t want to invest in invasive procedures, you should use a DMAE serum to help improve the signs of aging in these areas.
If your jawline sags, your neck is more vulnerable to sagging too. Using DMAE-infused products to handle the neck and chest as well as your face will help keep those cell structures strong and firm.
Not looking aged yet? Don’t let it sneak up on you. Lines and wrinkles are formed every day by our actions and expressions. If you don’t work on tackling them where they start, you’ll eventually see them appear on the surface. The same is true with sagging. By tackling skin concerns now with DMAE, you can hold onto your youthful appearance and confidence.
Products should have at least three percent DMAE to be beneficial for reducing lines and firming up sagging skin. As an added bonus, using DMAE hydrates skin and improves the appearance overall, a result of the tightening up of the cell walls to form a firmer skin matrix that is the very picture of youth.

]]>A body scrub can help remove dead and damaged skin cells from the body and keep skin soft, hydrated, and healthy. They can be used alone or followed with a cleanser or body lotion. With a few easy steps you can get the most form your body scrub.
When choosing a body scrub, find one that is well suited to your needs. Types include hypoallergenic, moisturizing, for sensitive skin, and come in assorted scents. Since many companies make a body scrub it might take a few tries to find just the right one that aligns with your preferences.
Skincare companies that are cruelty free and even vegan all have body scrubs in their line of products, and there is sure to be one that fits your needs.
Along with individual benefits, based upon content and ingredients, a body scrub will help remove buildup of dead cells, prepare the skin for easy absorption of moisturizer, and can slow the formation of wrinkles and other signs of aging, while maintaining an even skin tone.
The physical act of the scrubbing and cleansing will increase the circulation in the area and help the skin get all of the nutrients that it needs from the body.
Body scrubs come in two main types - cream or lotion based - and can be found in a tub or a tube. They are applied to the body with your hands or a facecloth and are used on damp skin and best used in the shower to avoid any spills.
Other body scrubs can be applied with a cloth, loofa, or soft-bristled brush. These must be cleaned well after each use and allowed to dry. They can be used alone or with a cleanser or soap to clean the body while it exfoliates.
To use a body scrub efficiently the skin should be wet or damp as this will allow for the most effectiveness. Begin with large areas and gently scrub in a circular motion. Rinse and pat dry. If using a loofa or cloth be sure to cleanse it after use and hang it to dry.
Maintaining skin health is not only for the face and neck, but all areas of the body. The skin shows signs of aging and buildup over the entire body and using a body scrub can help to slow the signs of aging, prepare the skin for absorbing the hydration from a moisturizer, and remove buildup and dead cells while relieving itching and discomfort.

]]>Hyaluronic acid has been the darling of skincare hydration for quite some time. But now, it’s got some fierce competition with polyglutamic acid (PGA). Whereas hyaluronic acid could hold up to 1,000 times its own weight in water, PGA can hold four times that weight, making it even more essential for replenishing thirsty skin.
This natural polymer was originally used to help wounds heal. It is a larger molecule so it sits on top of the skin to help it glow and look more luminous. You’ll find it gives your skin a number of benefits too.
If you love how hyaluronic acid improves your skin’s hydration, polyglutamic acid will make you fall head over heels. It’s a humectant that retains moisture and binds it to skin for a lasting, quenched feeling.
With all that hydration, skin takes on a plumper look. It looks healthy, smoothed, and soothed, plus this skin-loving acid indirectly assists with improved elasticity to help skin renew even further over time.
Overall, using polyglutamic acid in your skincare routine will definitely help if you’re seeking anti-aging benefits. With such replenishing moisture, skin is treated to plumping action plus it exhibits anti-radical capabilities, meaning it can keep free radicals from destroying the skin matrix.
Don’t let the word “acid” fool you. There is nothing abrasive about this hydrating ingredient.
Polyglutamic acid is very gentle and suitable for most skin types. However, you should make sure that polyglutamic acid is the only active ingredient. Other actives could be harsh for your skin type and may result in irritation whereas using just PGA likely won’t cause any problems.
Your thirsty skin can’t possibly OD on this naturally moisturizing ingredient. But it stands to reason that the drier your environment, the more frequently you’ll need to apply it. It will still give you great benefits for glowing and healthy skin even in humid places though, so use it as needed.
When you use polyglutamic acid, you’ll start noticing smoother skin that looks more youthful. Plumped up, wrinkles and lines will be minimized. You can wear it alone or let it help boost your skin prior to applying makeup for a really smooth and flawless look.
It’s one of the key ingredients to creating the popular look of glass skin from Korean beauty, giving your skin a dewy and smooth appearance. You’ll be glad to know to that you can use it with vitamin C, retinol, and niacinamide as well without any troubles for your smoothest and most youthful skin!

]]>A toner is often used between skin cleansing and moisturizing. A regular toner will help with closing the pores to keep germs and dirt out and leave skin fresh and ready for hydration. An exfoliating toner also has a chemical exfoliator included that helps remove buildup and leave pores cleared and closed, keeping the skin bright, clear, and healthy.
An exfoliating toner is a great alternative to abrasive scrubs and other physical exfoliators. They are easier on the skin and are less damaging to capillaries or cells.
Chemical exfoliators remove the buildup from within pores and decrease the excess oil from the surface of the skin. This reduces acne occurrences while evening the skin tone and maintaining a clear surface and healthy glow.
It also improves the hydration levels of the skin, and as a fluid, is able to soak deep into the layers to improve skin health. They boost the hydration levels deep within the skin’s layers and add hydration from the bottom layer out. With a reduction in buildup and an addition of hydration the skin is healthier and replenishes quickly.
Used as a regular toner it can be added to the skincare routine between a cleanser and a moisturizer. Safe to use morning and evening, it requires little change to the regular routine but it may be harsh for those with dry or sensitive skin.
The frequency of how often it should be used can vary by season or age. With no damage or risks it can be used more often during increased oil production and reduced when skin appears dry or damaged.
It is recommended for those with oily skin or who wear thick make-up regularly to reduce the film or oil on the skin. It keeps the pores clear of these products and allows the other skincare products to better complete their tasks.
While there are many skincare options available there are always some that will work better for different needs. For those with dry or sensitive skin a physical exfoliator may be too strong and can cause damage to the skin.
For those who have oily skin or who wear a lot of make-up it can be helpful as it can be used daily and will assist in maintaining the oil-free surface and clean pores. As the pores remain clear of buildup there are fewer cases of acne and buildup, so it can maintain the size of pores and reduce blemishes and discoloration.
An exfoliating toner is a toner that includes a chemical exfoliator but is used the same as a regular toner is. They are easily available and can be added into an already established skincare routine. It is easy and safe to use, and will help to keep the skin clear and healthy.
