Free Radicals: What Do They Do?

Free radicals is a term that is often used when discussing skincare, but what are they? Free radicals are molecules that can form as a result of pollution such as dust, cigarette smoke, and smog. They can even be created by the sun. The primary reason why free radicals are so dangerous to your skin is that they are missing an electron, and they search for one on your skin.
How does missing an electron affect your skin? Because the free radicals will try to grab an electron from your skin instead. When the electrons are taken from your skin, the DNA will be damaged, and it can speed up the aging of your skin. Damage caused by free radicals can cause brown spots, broken blood vessels, weakened skin, saggy skin, or wrinkles.
How Can You Prevent Damage Caused By Free Radicals?

Free radicals are nearly impossible to avoid since they are in the air. Instead, you can follow certain remedies to prevent excessive damage caused by free radicals. The primary form of damage prevention is antioxidants. Antioxidants allow the free radical to take an electron from it rather than from your skin.

The best forms of antioxidants are vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E. These vitamins can either be consumed in certain foods or applied using a topical serum. There is a wide array of lotions, creams, and serums on the market today that provide your skin with the antioxidants it needs.

Products Rich In Antioxidants

There are a lot of antioxidant-rich products on the market today, and it can be hard to decide which one works the best or will suit your specific needs.
