Mangosteen – The Superfood For Super Skin

Have you heard of mangosteen before? Most Americans haven’t simply because it’s native to Southeast Asia. For centuries, this incredible superfruit has been used particularly for boosting immunity and good health. As it turns out though, mangosteen has many more benefits, especially where skin is concerned.

While the name might suggest a relation, it’s nothing like the mango. Mangosteens are glossy, purple, and round. Inside, it’s segmented much like an orange and has a wonderfully sweet taste. It ranks as a superfood because of its robust content of vitamins and minerals, phytochemicals, fatty acids, and xanthones, the latter of which has some of the most potent antioxidative capabilities anywhere on earth.

If you’re unable to track down this sweet superfruit to taste it, you can always get it in supplement form to help round out your overall health. Mangosteen is good for enhancing immunity, fighting infections and inflammation, promoting heart health, improving eye health, nourishing the brain, and having cancer-fighting properties.

In skincare though, you should look for mangosteen as an ingredient too. It can help improve your complexion naturally!

Battles Blemishes

Mangosteen has anti-microbial properties thanks to those xanthones. As bacteria is what causes you to break out, it’s a great ingredient to look for in natural skincare treatments of acne to get the clear skin you’ve always wanted.

Protects Skin From Premature Aging

We’re always told to be careful of getting too much sun. While protecting it certainly helps, not everyone is always vigilant about reapplying the sunscreen they need to guard their skin. With unprotected skin, the enzymes that help repair sun damage, called metalloproteinases, get to work but they don’t always help. They can also break down your collagen and elastin, leading to wrinkles. Mangosteens have those powerful antioxidants and xanthones that help keep skin looking young and healthy.

Saves Skin From Free Radicals

Every day, you come into contact with those unstable molecules known as free radicals. They are all around you in air pollution and in cigarette smoke, plus other places too. Free radicals also encourage those bad enzymes to attack your skin structure. By using mangosteen in your skincare - and eating it too - you can stop the undoing of your skin.

Ideally, if you can eat mangosteens and look for skincare that features it as an ingredient, you’ll be on your way to your best skin. Not to mention, you’ll enjoy better health too. It’s not that easy to find fresh mangosteen in the U.S., though some Asian supermarkets might carry it. You can find it canned or frozen, or simply go with supplements.

It might help to take an inside-out approach and consume mangosteen while using skincare products that feature the amazing superfruit to achieve your best results!
