It seems like there are so many ingredients to know in skin care. One that you should consider is ferulic acid, a plant-based antioxidant that is a miracle worker in anti-aging products. In fact, you might eat it naturally when you enjoy citrus fruits, rice, bran, oats, or even eggplant.
So, it’s natural. And healthy too, with lots of antioxidants of its own plus the ability to play nice with key anti-aging vitamins like A, C, and E.
Benefits for Your Skin with Ferulic Acid
Some people take ferulic acid in supplements, which is great for the whole body. You can do that and look for an anti-aging serum that contains it.
Ferulic acid chases away free radicals, one of the key forces of destruction for your skin in the aging process. If you’ve got age spots and wrinkles, you might want to see how ferulic acid can help you.
Vitamin C And Ferulic Acid
For skin concerns, ferulic acid will help you most topically. Ideally, you should find something that also includes vitamin C because these two ingredients together have near superpower strength in helping revitalize aging skin. You can also use other skincare products in tandem that contain high concentrations of topical vitamin C.
Some say ferulic acid is best when used in a formulation with vitamin C because it helps it stabilize and increases its ability to provide photoprotection. This minimizes potential sun damage.
Retinol And Ferulic Acid
Look for it in serums and creams. You can even combine it with retinol if you want a brighter, more even tone when you wake up. However, adding ferulic acid to your morning skincare product lineup will infuse skin with plenty of antioxidants to keep you protected all day.
Can Anyone Use Ferulic Acid?
Most skin types can use ferulic acid. However, those with sensitive skin should proceed with caution. It’s never a bad idea to do a small patch test on your skin to see how it reacts to ferulic acid, or anything for that matter. Those with wheat or bran allergies should probably avoid ferulic acid. It could set off your allergies.
When you do your small patch test, keep an eye out for any redness, rash, itchiness, hives, or peeling. That’s a good indication that using it all over your skin might cause the same effect.
For those that see nothing unusual after 24 to 48 hours, you can happily use ferulic acid to fight off the signs of aging. You’ll find brighter, firmer, more even-toned skin with a smoothed appearance!
