Vitamin D For Skin

Vitamin D is one of the vitamins needed by the skin and whole body to maintain health. It is produced within the body and most commonly encouraged through the skin by exposure to the sun and other UV/UB sources.

This vitamin is important to both mental health and functioning as well as balance within the body and skin. A deficiency can occur when the body doesn’t receive what it needs to create the vitamin, which can occur with a lack of sunlight, through interference by melanin - the nutrient that colors the skin - and by insufficient consumption or absorption.

Treat skin conditions with vitamin D

Vitamin D is an important nutrient that assists in the growth and health of cells along with their metabolism. Many skin conditions can be treated with a vitamin D supplement and/or cream. This process makes vitamin D vital to maintaining healthy skin.

When the body doesn’t create enough vitamin D, dry, flaking skin such as eczema or even psoriasis may appear. Treating these conditions with a vitamin D cream is very common and one of the most popular treatments.

Also used is a treatment of UBV lights. Either of these treatments may take weeks to work, and the best results will be obtained over months.

Another benefit to these treatments is that the increased vitamin D will also help to deter signs of aging and help to reduce damage to the skin cells. While assisting in the repair and strengthening of cells it can assist in avoiding skin infections.

Healing properties of vitamin D

Applying vitamin D to the skin can help speed the healing of things such as sunburns and other burns as well, and can assist in repairing stretch marks and other skin damages.

As a well-known necessity to skin health it is easily available and can be found just by going outside, over the counter as a supplement, in the purchase of a UV light - commonly used for growing plants or in a SAD light - or as a prescription from a doctor or dermatologist. There is no known risk of having too much vitamin D, but too much sun exposure can lead to sun burns and other skin conditions including skin cancers.

Vitamin D is a necessary nutrient for the skin and hair, as well as needed to maintain mental health. There is little difference on the effects of vitamin D from the sun or from other sources, so a supplement or cream is suitable as needed.

It can help to prevent damages to the skin as well as repair damages after they occur, and the antioxidants are useful for maintaining healthy, younger looking skin as well.
