Hydrnocarpus Wightiana AKA Chaulmogra Oil

Many obscure essential oils have traditional names that most of us would have trouble getting our tongues around. In this case, hydrnocarpus wightiana is often referred to as chaulmogra, which is also a bit difficult to pronounce. For over 4,000 years this powerful oil has been used on many skin conditions and issues with a whole slew of positive results. The seeds come from a tree that's linked to the Achariaceae plant family.

Historically, it was used in the treatment of chronic skin disorders. One was incredibly frightening and isolating, which is leprosy. Many years ago, leprosy was thought to be a curse, highly contagious and something that was socially shunned. It is no wonder that this oil was also found to be an incredibly effective treatment for skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, boils, ulcers or even sensitive skin. Something like leprosy is much more invasive and hard to treat, yet many received positive results from this potent seed.

Treat Oral Pain

The tree itself is indigenous to India and typically grows in the rain forests in the Western Ghats. It bears fruit most often in the late summer months of August and September. Not only are the seeds deeply rich with properties that help heal many skin conditions but the bark itself also used to be used centuries ago as a method of relieving tooth discomfort or oral pain. Currently, one of the ways that the oil can be used is to treat any discomfort and pain that is often associated with rheumatism. Mixing a couple of drops of the oil with limewater can provide relief from the pain when you rub the mixture into the affected area.

It has also been known to help rashes or unfamiliar skin issues that you may suffer from. A few drops of chaulmogra oil mixed in with an oil like sweet almond or coconut can be applied directly to the problem area of the skin. This will help to treat the inflamed, affected skin and will also positively impact the healthy skin that surrounds the flares or breakouts. You can treat your skin this way twice a day until you notice an improvement.

The oil is also known to help relieve congestion which can be brought on by several factors. If you have a weakened immune system, you likely catch a cold more than once a year. If that happens, you probably suffer from congestion, cough and fatigue. The inability to breathe clearly and easily can be so frustrating. A few drops of this oil rubbed into your chest will provide you with the necessary relief you need.

You can also add some of the oil to a humidifier. The warm, moist air will help the oil better penetrate your lungs and chest cavity as you breathe it in over an extended period of time. Traveling with essential oils is also easy because a little bit goes a long way. Toss some 10 ml bottles of a couple different kinds of oils and be on your way. You won't have to worry about being without them.

You can purchase chaulmogra oil online from several companies at amazon.com.
