How Do I Remove Acne?

Acne occurs when bacteria and dirt gather in the pores. To clear acne, use products and processes that open the pores, remove the buildup, and leave skin clear and clean.

A multiple-step skin care system may be required to complete the tasks that will help limit the formation of acne and help get rid of breakouts that have already formed – and it can take just minutes a day. Clearing the skin of dirt, oils, and dead skin cells help avoid acne forming, remove buildup and treat any infections that form.

Wash skin to treat acne

Begin by washing the skin twice a day with a gentle cleanser. Benzoyl peroxide is often recommended for treating acne and can be found in many facial cleansers. After washing the face use a toner to close the pores, stopping any dirt from entering the pores and creating buildup.

Moisturizer is the last step and is important for keeping the skin well hydrated and healthy. In addition, acne-prone skin should be exfoliated once every week to get rid of the dead skin cells, bacteria, and dirt that builds up within the pores and leaves them clean and the skin refreshed.

Products to treat acne

Where regular cleaning isn’t enough there are acne products that are created to address the problem both with skin care and through medications. Some acne concerns, such as cystic acne, are treated with an oral antibiotic or an antibiotic cream. These may need to be maintained on an ongoing basis but will avoid scarring and can clear painful acne breakouts.

Home remedies for acne

Some home remedies include essential oils that will help reduce the oil on the skin and tighten the pores, provide antibacterial properties or antimicrobial abilities. These will decrease the causes of acne without damaging the skin.

Tea tree oil is commonly used for skin care due to its antibacterial properties and its ability to decrease inflammation. Green tea can be used to treat spots of acne as it also reduces inflammation and helps kill bacteria. Some studies have shown consuming green tea can help prevent acne. The antioxidants in green tea are also beneficial for the skin and help reduce damage to the skin, including acne.

Aloe vera is high in salicylic acid. It is often found in acne treatments, allowing aloe vera gel to be used in treating acne, and when combined with tea tree oil has been shown to reduce acne.

While minor acne can be uncomfortable but clear quickly, having acne all the time can be painful and affect daily life. As acne forms when bacteria, excess oil, dead skin cells, and dirt collect and clog within the pores of the skin, this allows it to become infected and form breakouts. By keeping the skin clear of buildup and getting rid of bacteria, acne can be cleared and avoided in the future.
