Being congested is absolutely no fun. Struggling to breath because your nose or lungs are congested from a cold or allergies is the pits because you can often feel like a walking zombie. Congestion makes it difficult to do many things. It makes it difficult to concentrate, eat and sleep.
Thankfully, this oil is one of the preeminent oils to use when you are suffering from a cold or your seasonal allergies are hellbent on flaring up.
Olbas oil originated in Switzerland and is actually a fusion of six very well known and prominent herbs. The oil is a mixture of eucalyptus, wintergreen, peppermint, cajeput, juniper berry and clove essential oil. The great thing about this oil mixture is that it can be so many things at one time.
It has the ability to be immune boosting, energizing, calming, and antibacterial all in varying degrees.
Massage
One of the best ways to use this oil is through a massage. Because the skin is so susceptible to what we put on it and how we treat it, the oil can easily seep into the system and provide necessary relief. Add a few drops of Olbas oil mixed with a carrier oil - coconut oil would be perfect and this is the best type of oil to get a massage with.
Due to the concentration levels of the oils, you don't have to use very much. A little goes a long way. You can put this on your neck, back, feet or even on your head. For those who really suffer from sinus issues and problems, rubbing the mixture between your eyebrows will be incredibly helpful in loosening the tightness that is often accumulated there.
Compress
You can also use the oil as a compress to the specific areas that need the attention. An essential oil compress lets the oils gather and penetrate the skin in a concentrated effort directly where the problem is occurring.
Depending on what type of issues you are having, a warm compress will soothe aches and is great for decompressing, while a cold compress is best if you have a fever and are having trouble cooling down.
Soak Feet
You'll need to put 10 to 20 drops of the oil mixed in a basin of water, add the cloth to the mixture and allow it to soak all the way through. Wring out the excess moisture and apply it to the necessary area.
This next option is great if you are feeling a sort of all-over-sickness coming on. The feet are easily the foundations of the body, they touch the earth and hold up our whole being. Many people do not know that toxins and bad bacteria, as well as germs and other things, can come out of the feet.
Soaking your feet in a foot bath will have you feeling much better than you even realize. Again, use 10 to 20 drops of the oil in warm water and let your feet soak there for at least 20 minutes. You will start feeling better and your ability to take deeper breathes will start occurring soon after.
