Chia seeds are an incredibly easy superfood to add to your diet. You can blend them into a smoothie, add them to pudding or top your yogurt or salad with them. This is great news because chia seeds are rich in many essential vitamins and minerals, such as magnesium, calcium, niacin, vitamins E and B and omega-3 fatty acids.

They're also a great source of fiber and protein. Most other types of seeds are also fantastic dietary additions, including pumpkin seeds, flaxseeds and many kinds of nuts.

Some of the best superfoods around are berries. Any kind of berry will do, including blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and goji berries. The antioxidants in berries are linked to improved brain function and health.

Berries are also full of fiber and water, keeping your digestive system healthy and helping you stay hydrated. In addition to being packed with nutritional properties, berries are low on the glycemic index, meaning your blood sugar won't spike and then plummet after eating them as it does with less complex carbohydrates. Additionally, apples are chock full of quercetin. Quercetin is a powerful antioxidant that is linked to both the reduction of inflammation and the fueling of neurotransmitters. Both lowered inflammation and healthy neurotransmitters help boost mood.

If you don't have time to make or eat homemade meals all the time or you don't have access to a lot of fresh food, you can still get your health and happiness boosting superfoods. There are products like greens powder available to supplement your diet with.
