More people struggle with their mental health than you might ever suspect - some more than others. However, most people can agree that they experience ups and downs throughout their life. While some people struggle with mental health because of circumstances beyond their control, others may be able to affect their mental well-being by carrying out certain actions.

Take a look at some of the most impactful things that you can do for your mental well-being right now.

Do Something You Love

If you feel yourself down or in a funk, sometimes it helps to do something that makes you happy. Go do  an activity that you enjoy and excites you. For some people, that may be playing basketball, and for other people it may be going hunting. Different strokes for different folks — do whatever it takes to make you happy!

Go For a Walk

Sometimes a boost of endorphins is exactly what the doctor ordered to bring your mood to a better place. Although running is the most effective, not everyone is dying to put on their running shoes and jog around the block. If that sounds like you, then you should go for a brisk walk for a couple of minutes.

Not only is it great for your cardiovascular health, but it's also a natural high that sends endorphins pumping through your system. The great thing about a walk is that it can be enjoyed alone or with friends!

Call Someone You Care About

All too often, we allow ourselves to suffer alone in our struggles. However, you're better off reaching out to someone to help you through a tough time. Calling a friend is a great way to remind yourself that you're not as alone as you might think, even when it seems like there's no one. A few minutes of conversation can often reveal that you have plenty of people that love you and care about you.

Take Some Deep Breaths

In many cases, we look for complicated answers to our woes. Yet sometimes, the best solution for our issues is something as simple as breathing. Deep breaths are a great way to bring yourself back down to a calm state of mind and encourage inner peace.

Start by taking deep breaths until the count of six, followed by exhalations to the count of five. By repeating this over and over you'll eventually start to notice that your mood changes. Not only does it help relieve stress during a moment of crisis, but it can also be a great way to go to sleep if you have trouble getting tired in the evenings.
