Dental Practice Marketing: 5 Things You Should Be Doing

Trusted Health Products

When considering what you can do to strengthen your bottom line have you ever taken a hard look at your dental practice from your patients point of view? How do they feel about having you as their dentist? Why do they prefer you over your competition? What do they know about you and your staffs reputation and why do they plan to stay with you for the long haul? Who is your competition and what are they doing?

Here are 5 things you can adopt right away to add value to your practice.

Communicate With Your Customers Establish an e-mail newsletter and a Facebook page as well as a website if you don't already have one - to update your patients on any new information at your facility or in the dental world and be sure to make it fun as well as informative.

Call Your Patients Not only is it important to call new patients a few days before their appointment to remind them of their visit, answer any location questions they may have and make them feel welcome, but you should also call your current patients after their visit/treatment to see how they are doing and answer any questions they may have.

Look At Your Image One way to present a higher level of professionalism to your practice is to make sure you and your staff are dressed professionally and reflect an image you'd like to be known for. This also goes for your facility. How does the outside of your facility, your lobby and your patient areas look? Are they clean and up to date? How would you feel if you were visiting the building for the first time? Along with this comes staff friendliness, organization, and professionalism. Make sure your staff knows what is expected of them in these areas and that they meet these expectations every day.

Evaluate Your Services You should consider adding any dental services or products that will benefit your patients and make their oral health routine easier and more successful. Patients also appreciate learning about additional services you may offer such as cosmetic whitening. Its also a good idea to have your dental hygienists know about toothbrushes, toothpastes, mouthwashes and dental flosses they can recommend. Pay attention to what your patients ask about and what they like.

Show Appreciation Another way you can make your patients feel good about your practice is by appreciating them. A few things that other practices do include sending personal thank you notes following check-ups, holding raffles occasionally - with dental as well as non-dental prizes and awarding patients that refer new customers with a prize or discount. And remember, its never too early to review and modify your current marketing efforts to ensure your practice is doing everything it can to be and stay successful.
