Practically everyone is going to experience at least a few back issues over the years, and you must address those aches and pains right away if you want to avoid long-term health complications. Here is a quick look at four of the most common back problems that many people struggle with and a few steps that you can take to address those issues.

Muscle Strains

Lower back strains and sprains can occur even if you do everything in your power to protect your spine. Luckily, taking care of a strain doesn’t usually require a doctor as long as the spine is healthy and no muscles have been torn. To deal with a strained back, you should rest the muscles for at least a few weeks. During that time, you can speed up your recovery by gently stretching and using ice packs.

With more people than ever staring at screens for multiple hours a day, spine misalignment issues are becoming incredibly pervasive. When your spine is misaligned, you might notice a wide variety of secondary problems including discomfort when you wake up, constant headaches, and tight muscles. In order to treat a misaligned spine, you will most likely need professional chiropractic services. An experienced chiropractor can help you realign your spine through joint manipulation and spinal decompression.

Bulging Disc

A bulging disc is immediately going to bring your life to a grinding halt, and this type of medical problem should never be taken lightly. While most bulging discs heal on their own, you might also want to consider physical therapy. A physical therapist can teach you different stretches and exercises that are going to relax and strengthen the nearby muscles.

Osteoporosis Of The Back

Osteoporosis usually develops much later on in life, but some patients are born with this condition. In the initial stages of osteoporosis, you might struggle with lingering back pain or limited mobility in the hips. There currently isn’t a cure for osteoporosis, but patients who catch this condition early on can often slow the rate of bone loss and minimize the worst side effects with various medications and therapies.

Back problems can make everyday activities completely unbearable, and you must immediately seek out professional medical attention if your back pain is impacting your quality of life. You should also speak with a doctor if you have lingering back pain that has lasted for more than a few days.
