Well known in Indian cuisine, the curry spice itself comes from a plant that gives a very distinct flavor depending on the type. Historically, as resourceful members of society, many found that the curry leaves themselves could help with a myriad of issues.
All three parts of the tree, the flowers, berries and leaves, have healing properties and can be used for different health problems. Curry leaves come from a tree typically referred to as Krishnanimba or Girnimba. The leaves would be ground into a paste and applied on burns, wounds, acne, bruises and other skin disorders. Here are some of the most effective uses for curry leaf oil.
Hair Growth
If you are looking for something that will transform your hair and provide you with strong, healthy locks and help it grow, then curry leaf oil is what you need to start using. The oil is full of fortifying vitamins that the scalp and hair need for it to be properly nourished and to promote faster growth.
Vitamins A, B, C, and E are all present in the oil. If you have a problem with gray hair, try treating your gray with a bit of this oil, it's able to alter the pigmentation of the hair back to its originally color.
Oral Health
The health of the mouth is of tremendous importance so adding an oil that has the ability to treat gum issues and help tooth aches is a big plus. Due to the calcium, zinc and folic acid within the oil, along with it's antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, it's a real winner for the teeth and gums.
You can put a few drops of the oil onto your gums directly after you brush your teeth, or you can add it into warm water, with some salt and create a mouth gargle.
Skin Care
The antioxidant components of this oil are great for helping skin look its best. The abundance of nutrients that are present in the oil helps to enrich skin and diminish signs of aging. It targets and attacks those areas that may be susceptible to germs and free radicals, which wreak havoc on the skin.
Try adding a couple of drops of this oil into jojoba oil and massage it into your skin. This oil will have your skin improving in no time. You can also use it as a spot treatment if you suffer from troublesome acne.
Digestive Aid
When you are suffering from bloating or can't use the bathroom, it can feel very uncomfortable. This oil can be used to help your digestive acids do what they are meant to, which helps to make you regular and even reinstate your appetite when it has vanished. Mix a few drops with some coconut oil.
Your discomfort will start to dissipate and your stomach issues will start to subside. This can also be used in the cases of indigestion, diarrhea or cramping. Try using the oil in an oil lamp or diffuser. Even breathing in the scent provides a similar effect.
