The fountain of youth may be a mythical idea but that doesn't stop plenty of people from doing their best to stay and look as young as possible. People have been using various remedies for centuries trying to retain their smooth skin and youthful glow.
The fact of the matter is that aging is inevitable and quite a privilege. You can be grateful for getting older but still do your best to keep your outside looking as young as you feel on the inside. If you are trying your hardest to make your skin look younger then check out the following six ways to keep your skin looking youthful.
1. Get the Right Lights
You probably have started hearing a little about light therapy and all the benefits it has for you. In particular, red light therapy for skin has a multitude of benefits both internally and externally.
For just 10 minutes a day, you can do yourself a world of good by parking yourself under a special red light therapy lamp. Your skin is your largest organ and is also the best way to absorb all the benefits of red light.
Red light therapy can help boost your mood, immune system, and overall cellular function. This translates to much more than just rejuvenated skin, but you will get the benefits of that as well. Red light therapy can amp up your collagen production which declines as we age. The results can be seen with bouncier and more luminous skin.
2. Try Supplements
Supplements can be a huge boost to the appearance of your skin. Regularly taking collagen, zinc, vitamin A, C and E can be extremely beneficial to your skin. Once again, collagen aids in maintaining the elasticity of the skin, so it's a great way to prevent premature sagging.
Different vitamins and minerals help your skin repair itself faster and protect it from free radical damage. There have even been studies that show that a deficiency in zinc can make eczema harder to relieve. Make sure you get a full dose of a large range of vitamins and minerals to get the many different health benefits they offer to you and your skin.
3. Deep Clean Daily
An important and easy way to make sure your skin is looking as young as it can is to thoroughly clean your face every day. This means cleaning it regularly each morning and then at the end of the day cleansing twice.
First, you should use an oil-based cleanser or balm and use it to remove any makeup or sunscreen from the day. Then follow that up with a gel or cream-based cleanser to finish cleaning your skin. Not fully cleansing your skin leaves it available to damage from whatever you put on it or encountered during the day, and damage is what ages you more quickly.
4. Moisturize
After cleansing in the morning and in the evening, the next most important thing you need to remember is to moisturize. There are thousands upon thousands of different types of moisturizers on the market that cater to every skin type.
The most important part is that you use it regularly after cleansing. Having moist and hydrated skin will be the best way to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and help prevent them.
5. Protect Yourself
Finally, it is imperative that you protect your skin daily, all year round. That means using plenty of SPF even in the winter months. Sun damage is the fastest way to age your skin and puts you at risk for skin cancer. Find a sunscreen that you enjoy wearing and use it daily. This is the best way to keep yourself looking as young as possible.
Following some of these strategies and tips will make a difference in your skin. It's hard to reverse time completely, but sometimes the best way to stay looking young is to employ prevention strategies early on.
Using red lights, supplements, deep cleaning, moisturizing, and always wearing SPF will have you looking like maybe you did find the fountain of youth.
