The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the hinge that links the jawbone to the skull. The joint is active any time you talk, eat or drink, so any kind of pain or damage to the bones, ligaments or muscles can create persistent headaches. Various mouth and orthodontic issues can cause damage or discomfort to this joint, which may require the services of a professional TMJ dentist to address.
Dietary Imbalance Or Sensitivity
Diet is rarely the first thing that springs to mind when contemplating migraine sources, but it’s often at least part of the problem. Sporadic meal schedules can lead to fluctuating blood sugar levels and nutrient imbalances that interfere with normal neurological function. Dehydration is also a leading factor that contributes to migraines, so it’s important to drink plenty of water even if your headache makes the prospect unappealing.
Migraines can be an incredibly frustrating challenge for anyone, even those with high pain tolerance. Temporary pain management may work as a short-term solution but addressing the underlying cause and making appropriate lifestyle changes is often the key to finding lasting relief.
