The Symptoms Of Hives

Trusted Health Products

Whether they are caused from nervousness or allergy, hives are red blotches or red raised welts that many people have experienced at one time or another. The medical term for this is urticaria. Depending on the trigger, hives can be very minimal and hard to even notice to very obvious and widespread. Because there are so many different skin conditions, sometimes there is some confusion as to what constitutes a hive as opposed to another skin ailment or issue. Hives are different because they aren't directly related to the skin itself - it's a reaction that is seen on the skin. A great way to tell if you're dealing with hives is that there will be multiple welts and that the center of the hive will turn white when pressed.

One of the most notable symptoms of hives is itching. Hives automatically make the skin feel uncomfortable and irritated. They can even sting or burn as well. Depending on what causes the hives, they can appear anywhere on the body. This includes the throat, lips, face, tongue and ears. Hives don't always manifest themselves the same way or at the same size. They can sometimes last for 15 minutes to an hour. Some more severe cases can last for up to a day before fading.

The redness experienced is often a symptom of the small blood vessels that become activated during an allergic reaction. Things like inse bites, certain foods, sunlight exposure and medications may cause this type of reaction. This symptom is one of the most obvious and readily experienced symptoms of hives. Hives can often move around so while they may start on your arms, they may move to your back or chest after a certain amount of time. They may also change shape depending on placement and triggers.

Consider An Allergy Test

Those who experience hives on a daily basis may have a chronic propensity to hives and may need to have certain allergy tests performed. If your hives are taking place every single day for over a month then you should definitely see an allergist to get a better estimation of what is triggering your breakouts. There are a few ways to combat the presence of hives although there isn't really a full proof way to prevent them completely. To deal with hives, using a cool compress is often a great way to stop the inflammation and itchy feeling.

Also try apple cider vinegar, ginger, turmeric and baking soda if you are looking for ways to combat your hives naturally. Apple cider vinegar has natural antihistamine properties that help with the inflammation experienced with hives. Ginger has amazing anti-inflammatory properties that will help by providing necessary enzymes. Turmeric is great because it produces corticosteroids naturally which help to provide ease from inflammation. Baking soda is a great aid due to its anti-inflammatory properties.

Trying any variation of the above suggestions will provide some bit of relief for hives. Recognize the signs and symptoms of hives, figure out what your triggers are and you should be well on your way to managing the issue.
