Mistakes That Age Your Skin

Trusted Health Products

The aging process isn't one that is particularly easy to go through. Many of us hate the thought of getting old, but more importantly of truly looking our age. We want our skin to retain the youthful glow that came so easily with the early years. But unfortunately, time often has other ideas. However, this isn't to say that you can't make specific mistakes that unnecessarily speed up the aging process. There are reasons that some people look much older than they are and it shows on their skin. Here are the most prevalent mistakes you make that age your skin.

Lack Of Sleep

This is one of the most fundamental aspects of having clear, smooth skin that doesn't come from your actual skin care routine. Getting enough shut eye is essential for your skin. If you wake up really early and stay up very late, you will likely start to see your skin pay a steep price for your lack of rest. Good rest is restorative and the first place that shows your lack of sleep is your face. This often leads to under eye circles, breakouts and dull skin. Getting enough shut eye is of paramount importance.

Sleeping In Makeup

A huge no-no. Putting your face down on your pillow without properly washing off your makeup is a huge skin curse. It's a very common mistake that happens when we just get too exhausted at the end of the day but it's a horrible thing to get in the habit of doing. There is unbelievable build up of dirt, oil, free radicals and pore-clogging entities all over your face at the end of the night. Sleeping without cleaning your face can lead to wrinkles, blemishes and uneven skin tone.

Skipping The Sunscreen

It's so easy to make this mistake, especially in the winter time when you barely see the sun as it is. The number one cause of aging skin is the lack of sunscreen. You should be making a concentrated effort to be applying sunscreen to your face every single day, regardless of the weather. Sun rays still shine through on cloudy or rainy days, we just don't notice them. UV sunlight exposure causes red skin, dry skin, dark spots and wrinkles.

Vitamin And Mineral Deficiency

If you have a terrible diet, it will catch up to your skin sooner or later. Consuming junk food high in fats and sugars will likely lead to your skin causing you some trouble down the line. What's more is that this type of diet doesn't add the necessary minerals and vitamins that the skin thrives off of. Improper nutrition can add years to your face. Make sure you are consuming enough food with omega-3 fatty acids, proteins, and vitamins A, C, D and E. These are all crucial to the health and look of your skin.

If you take care of your skin, you'll reap enormous benefits and ward off the signs of aging. Just like anything, skin must be tended to and cared for properly in order to flourish and glow the way it was designed to.
