Do you have skin tags? Some new moms are always surprised to find them thanks to hormonal fluctuations from pregnancy, but both men and women can get these small, harmless skin legions in the folds of skin. Common places for skin tags to sprout up are on your neck, under the breasts, armpits, eyelids, and groin area.

It’s not entirely clear what causes them, but it is thought that friction of your skin coming into contact with itself brings it on. In one study, a link was found between skin tags and obesity which may also indicate type 2 diabetes, but more research is needed for a conclusive decision on the matter.

Regardless, if you have skin tags, you probably want them gone. You can look for over-the-counter topical treatments that are safe and effective. Simply apply them until your skin tags fall off. You can also have them surgically-removed if you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself. Consult your dermatologist to find out more about cauterization, which uses heat to remove it; cryosurgery, which uses liquid nitrogen to freeze it off; or even surgery in extreme cases.

Many people also try home remedies to rid themselves of skin tags. As they are benign, most skin tags won’t require medical treatment, though if you feel very uncomfortable about yours, make sure you discuss it with your dermatologist.

You can try out the following home remedies for skin tags to have smooth and flawless skin on your own!

Try tea tree oil

This essential oil works wonders with both antiviral and antifungal properties. You should first cleanse the area you want to remove skin tags from. With a cotton swab, massage the tea tree oil over the skin tag. Put a bandage on it overnight and repeat this process over the next few nights. The skin tag should dry out and fall right off.

Save your banana peels

You may even have a home remedy for skin tags in your kitchen right now. Take the peel from one of your bananas and cut it into pieces to cover your skin tags. Cover any areas with bandages each night, repeating every night until your skin tags fall off.

Use ACV

Apple cider vinegar is another one you’ve likely got in your kitchen. Apply it with cotton swabs, then cover the area for about 30 minutes. Be sure to wash your skin afterwards. Continue doing this every day for a few weeks until your skin tag is gone.

Apply vitamin E

It’s thought that skin tags might be caused by aging too. Vitamin E has antioxidant properties that make it ideal to fight the signs of aging, skin tags included! Use liquid vitamin E on your skin tag and it could be gone in just a matter of days!

Garlic is another natural home remedy for skin tags, but you’ll have a pungent smell. As you’re to crush the garlic and apply it overnight, your bedding will likely retain the aroma of garlic too.

Once your skin tag is gone, make sure you apply antibiotic ointment on it just in case. This way, you won’t be prone to any infections. In the event that you bleed or it becomes painful, make sure you see a doctor. Most people will be happy though since these methods make short work of dealing with the unpleasant skin tags they’ve been stuck with for too long.
