Soybean Oil: Why You Should Stay Away

While many think that soy is actually healthy for you and a good alternative to some other elements you may have eliminated from your diet- we're here to tell you that simply isn't the case. There are several reasons why soy bean, and specifically soybean oil aren't great for the body. One of the reasons is because it's processed. Anytime an oil is processed, it can't be natural and if it's not natural, it has been altered in some way that your body may not properly recognize. Many people understand the danger of high fructose corn syrup. What makes it so dangerous is the process it goes through before it gets added into foods. Soybean oil is practically the same in that it is partially hydrogenated. Here are the ways in which is can compromise your health.

Cancer

Many scientists who study cancer cells and how cancer is formed have found that the hydrogenation process is terrible for the body and can give cancer a specific type of breeding ground. It does this by interfering with the molecular structure of the enzymes that the body naturally produces and uses to fight cancer. The body simply does not have the mechanisms needed to process the foreign elements of soybean oil which can leave your body vulnerable.

Obesity

It's interesting that when the soy bean craze first started, there were claims that it was so much healthier than other oils, yet if you look at the ingredients on some of the most unhealthy, processed foods, one of the first things you'll see is soybean oil. So how does that make any logical sense? Many realize that packaged foods with hundreds of ingredients can't be good for the health, yet there is often this common ingredient in all of them. Without consuming natural, nutrient rich foods and staying away from processed foods, our nation's obesity problem will likely only get more dire.

Auto-Immune Conditions

Whether you are suffering from a skin condition, a thyroid issue or lupus, the consumption of soybean oil isn't conducive to your condition. In many cases, some feel that the presence of this oil can actually cause auto immune conditions. When the immune system isn't properly protecting the body as it should, certain things go wrong and the body can not ward off issues. In the case of thyroid conditions, it will cause the thyroid to produce too much or too little thyroid activity. This can affect many aspects of the body from mood, metabolism, appetite, anxiety and temperature sensitivity. The consumption of soybean oil can negatively contribute to these problems.

Heart Disease

The leading killer in our country is heart disease. We have to start taking care of our heart and one of the most critical ways we can do this is by changing our diets. Diets that are high in hydrogenated oil will be high in trans fats. These fats clog arteries and lead to the underlying coronary issues that eventually turns into heart disease. Be careful of what you put into your mouth and how often.
