A Healthy Complexion: Saving Face

Trusted Health Products

We crash land into our mothers loving arms with the smoothest skin imaginable. Soft, supple, glowing! Then life happens to us and so do the acne, rosacea, wrinkles and other facial flaws we all dread. Our skin is the largest organ we have, but the skin on our faces is what we most often present to the world, so it gets most of the attention - and most of the abuse.

Saving your face - the texture and vitality of your skin - is important at any age. In 2016, wouldn't it be great if one of your New Years resolutions included a healthier care regimen for that sweet mug of yours?

Cleaning And Moisturizing

Clean, well-moisturized skin is healthy skin. This might seem obvious, but lots of people don't clean their faces as thoroughly as they should. Most of us live busy, rushed, and distracted lives. In the process of multitasking your way through your morning ablutions, you may do a cursory job of cleansing your face, which doesnt remove all the dirt and bacteria.

Sweat, dead skin cells, dust, and environmental pollutants can combine to turn your kisser into a toxic waste dump. Dirty skin promotes acne, pimples, and other blemishes. Sugar scrubs infused with lavender or peppermint oil or even honey can clean, sweeten, and enliven your whole countenance.

A healthy complexion thrives on moisture. A good moisturizer can eliminate dryness and keep your pores tight and youthful. Organic olive oil or coconut oil can remove stubborn makeup and add vital moisturizing nutrients to your skin. Think of them as a fountain of youth for your puss.

Feeding Your Face

In fact, most of what you need to nourish your complexion is probably in your kitchen. Providing your skin with vitamins, nutrients, omega-3 fatty acids, and fiber will do for your face what they do for the rest of your body. Organic products like lemon juice, oatmeal, Greek yogurt, and egg whites are literally feasts for your face. Combine the lemon juice and yogurt or a bit of cornmeal with the egg whites to make invigorating albeit messy facial masks. You may look a bit odd while these masks work their magic, but afterward you'll sparkle!

Clockwork Vigilance

As we age, we lose collagen, so our skin may sag. We also lose sweat glands, so our skin can dry out. The older we get the more aggressive we all have to be about cleaning, moisturizing, and protecting our skin. One important weapon in this war against aging is sunscreen.

Sunscreen isn't just for sun-lovers. It should be a part of your daily beauty regimen regardless of the season. Most dermatologists recommend using a sunscreen with a sun protection factor, or SPF of 15 or higher. This will protect you against the suns radiation and keep you looking fit and fabulous.

Happy New Year and keep smiling!
