Holidays, the much awaited part of the year when there is too much on our mind. A hectic Christmas season is about to occupy most of our time. It's natural that when we are busy enjoying ourselves, something gets neglected. That's right, I am referring to your health. However, a healthy Christmasis not that far-fetched. After a frantic episode of parties and hangouts it's time to refresh your system and here is how.

Take Meadow Sweet Tea

The perennial herb is not available everywhere but those who have access to it are in luck. Its a mild tea that acts as a cure for peptic ulcer and speeds up the recovery of an upset stomach after an infection. It also offers a natural prevention against indigestion and produces the effect of an antacid. Some doctors even consider it a naturopathic medicine with anti-inflammatory action.

Detoxify Your System

Holidays are the time of the year when we eat like maniacs. It is estimated that people gain up to five pounds during holidays. This happens because they let loose on the food. Consuming too much red meat, refined flour and sugar adds to unhealthy weight and the acid levels in your system drop. This forces the liver to release more toxins.

Be Active

The winter makes people stay indoors for most of the day which reduces activity and makes us sluggish. The season only spares a few hours of sunlight and that part of the day flies away in a blur because we are busy with hectic schedules.

Align Your Chakras

Not many people might agree with all the ancient yoga practices, but they still verify the possibility of seven energy centers known as chakras. When they are in balance, your body gains strength to ward off diseases. Aligning of the chakras does not take a great deal of effort. It requires proper breathing patterns which allows a free flow of energy and allows the mind to calm down. Even if you are sick, revitalizing your chakras will make you feel revitalized.

Use Passionflower Tea

In the middle of a stressful routine of visiting relatives, take some passionflower tea to break the effects of stress. Passionflower is a purple-colored plant that acts as a non-addictive relaxant and is often used as a sleep aid. Instead of using artificial relaxants, passionflower tea can act as the best remedy for sleeplessness.

Use Licorice

The Chinese and even the western herbalists have witnessed the potential of licorice for the treatment of flu and related infections. It is now studied as a promising medicine for the treatment of high blood pressure and peptic ulcers. Since it has anti-bacterial properties, the herb in brewed form provides defense against flu infections.

Try A Natural Spa

If you cannot go and get spa treatments, then let it come to you. Make your bedroom a place where you can enjoy relaxing. When you are in your bedroom, mediate and pamper yourself. Take a long, relaxing, warm bath and put on some light music while getting massaged. Turn off your phones and lock the door when you are at the home spa.

Turn On The Light

Some people start feeling low when the sun goes down. In clinical terms, the condition is known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). But you don't have to be SAD to get mellow every time the sun goes down. Winter blues are natural because we thrive on light. So when the sun goes down early, keep your space cozy, warm and bright with lights.

Baths Make You Active

When the lymphatic gets clogged, it needs to be cleared so that the lymph glands can perform naturally. Try bathing using sponges in circular motion all over the body. The practice exfoliates dead cells and facilitates the release of toxins from the lymphatic system.
