One of the most peculiar looking plants, anise star oil gets its name from its natural form which resembles that of a star. In its essential oil form it is incredibly beneficial and can be used in conjunction with, or instead of, over-the-counter medication. Here are some of the key benefits that are associated with this wonderful and interesting oil.
Boost Breast Milk
While the female body is a powerful thing, it can use some help sometimes just like anything else. The production of milk that a woman provides varies depending on a myriad of factors. For those who have a hard time producing the amount of milk that is necessary for feeding a baby, anise star oil is a great way to naturally increase milk production. A single drop of anise star oil stimulates the body to go into milk-producing mode.
Battles Colds
If you are like most people, you suffer from a yearly cold that sometimes hangs on and makes it hard to focus or complete your work. You should keep some anise star oil on hand as it will help your symptoms. Anise oil acts as a natural decongestant that will help to loosen up the phlegm that often gets lodged in the chest and makes it hard to breathe.
It can also help with symptoms of asthma and other respiratory issues. Add a couple of drops of the oil into an oil burner or a humidifier to get the full effect and allow it several hours to work its way through your system through deep breaths.
Muscle Pain
Those who suffer from particular aches and pains associated with arthritis, rheumatism or other pain conditions may find this oil to be especially helpful. It acts as a way to stimulate the blood in the area and provide some ease from the pain.
This oil targets the muscles, joints and nerves and helps to relax them so that the tension that usually resides there can subside. Add a couple of drops of the oil with a carrier oil like avocado, coconut or jojoba oil. Rub the oil mixture into the areas that are experiencing pain.
Digestion
If you occasionally suffer from abdominal troubles, whether that be cramping, diarrhea, indigestion or discomfort, anise star oil is definitely something that you will want to keep in your medicine cabinet. Its natural antispasmodic and relaxant properties help to promote the relaxation of the digestive tract while also eliminating the gas that tends to build in various pockets inside our system when we decide to eat too much of the wrong thing.
You don't have to suffer through it. Relief is possible. Add a couple drops of anise oil to coconut oil and rub it on your lower and upper stomach. You'll notice that those painful gas bubbles will start to dissipate. Also drink a lot of water during this time. Lay on your side or your stomach and wait for the oil to work its magic.
