5 Ways To Ensure You Stay Healthy For Work

As the pandemic rages on, your health couldn't be more important. It's easy to mistake a winter-induced runny nose for the virus, and every cough probably has you Googling "coronavirus symptoms" in a state of panic. Therefore, in addition to protecting yourself from COVID-19, you have to take care of your body in other ways too.

The good news is that there are lots of precautions you can take to ensure you stay healthy. Whether you're going into an office or working from home, every payday counts, and you don't want to be sick enough to miss one. Here are some things you can do to keep your immune system strong and bring you out of the winter healthy and optimistic.

1. Eat Healthily

Eating healthily doesn't mean cutting out all cookies and cakes, but it does mean not eating them for every meal. Whole, nutrient-rich foods go a long way in boosting your immune system and protecting you from sickness, and you need to have a colorful plate of fruits, veggies, carbs, and proteins every day in order to feel your best.

When you make healthy choices, your body is more capable of fighting diseases. If you do get sick, be it with the flu, coronavirus, or a common cold, maintaining a healthy weight and reducing internal inflammation will give you a better chance of recovering quickly.

2. Try a Supplement 

Even if you're eating healthy, you won't get every vitamin every day. That's where supplements come in. While they're not intended to replace food, supplements hold various vitamins and minerals that you might not get in your daily diet such as fiber, vitamin C, vitamin D, and other protective substances.

Germs from your unwashed hands can also be transferred to other objects such as kitchen appliances or railings for you or someone else to pick up later. The bottom line: make sure you wash your hands. It's a small task that makes a huge difference.

5. Stay Home When You Can

It's far less likely that you'll pick up germs in your own home than you will out and about. Of course, it's not possible to stay home all of the time, but it's helpful to cut down on trips that aren't absolutely essential. For example, if you're ordering dinner, get it delivered instead of picking it up from a restaurant. If you need a new pair of sweatpants, order them online instead of going to the mall.

Being sick is the worst. While it's never 100 percent impossible to prevent illness, it's important to take these steps in helping ensure a fever, cough, and sniffle-free winter.
