Minimize alcohol, caffeine, and sugar consumption

During menopause, limiting the intake of stimulants such as caffeine and sugar is as important as reducing the intake of depressants such as alcohol. Caffeine, even in smaller amounts, impacts the levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, by making them go up, which could interfere with sleep. A study from 2014 suggests lowering caffeine intake if you experience symptoms such as night sweats and hot flashes.

Minimizing sugars as well as sweeteners in the diet is also recommended as their consumption can be even more detrimental to menopausal women. As for the alcohol, try to limit yourself to three drinks a week and try to drink more water to remain hydrated.

Eat more whole foods
