We have all been told to drink water for hydration, our skin, weight loss, and other health benefits. However, you need to ensure the water you are drinking is safe. Here are four ways the water you drink can make or break your health.

Keeps You Hydrated

It is important to drink water daily to stay hydrated. This includes when you are exercising or outside in hot weather. You do not want to become dehydrated, especially to the point of needing to visit a doctor. Your body is made up of about 60 percent water, so your body needs water to stay healthy and strong. Water is also essential to the function of your brain and heart.

Beneficial For Your Health

Drinking water is good for your heart, organs and muscles, and it helps with your energy, skin and weight loss. There are also mental benefits of drinking water, such as feeling alert and relaxed. It can even help you to calm down when you are feeling anxious. When you drink enough water daily, you are going to notice an improvement of your physical and mental health.

Beware Of Contaminated Water

There comes a time when drinking water is not good for your health. Your water becomes unhealthy when it is contaminated, as it may contain chemicals, bacteria or parasites that are harmful if ingested. The signs of contaminated water include cloudiness, color and an odor. If you think your water is contaminated, you want to call in a residential plumber immediately.

Limit The Distilled Water

You may also want to limit the distilled water you ingest. Distilled water has been boiled, and the steam from the boiled water changes back into a liquid. It can remove the chemicals that contaminate your water, but it can also remove the vitamins and minerals that should be included in your water. Distilled water may even pull the minerals from your body once it is ingested.

If you are hesitant of drinking tap water because of the possible contaminants, consider adding a water filter to your faucet. You can even find water pitchers that include a filter. This way, you are drinking water that is approved by the Safe Drinking Water Act. The filter removes the contaminants without removing the vitamins and minerals you need.

You do not want to skip drinking water altogether, but you do want to be aware and careful about the water you drink. Remember, water is essential for keeping your body and mind healthy.
