How To Use Red Cedarwood Oil

Trusted Health Products

Red cedarwood comes from a specific tree that can be found in the United States. The tree is known by the name juniper but its actual name is juniperus virginiana, a member of the cypress family. These trees can grow up to 30 feet tall and yield this highly beneficial oil.

The red cedarwood oil has a woodsy scent but it isn't very overpowering. In fact, in some cases the scent is actually incredibly subtle. This oil has historical ties to many different cultures and societies and there are many different uses for it. Here are some of the most common ways that this oil is used.

Insect Repellent

Ridding your surroundings of insects can sometimes seem like a futile task. Depending on where you live, there are particular bugs that may give you trouble. They pop up in your home and become a bit of a nuisance. The worst is when they bite.

This oil can be used to spray the corners of rooms in order to keep insects at bay. Fill a spray bottle with witch hazel or rubbing alcohol before adding 10 drops of red cedarwood oil. It's also a great deterrent for mosquitoes. A couple of spritzes on your clothes and skin will have those blood suckers bothering someone else.

Skin Conditions

If you suffer with a skin condition, then you likely know how hopeless and frustrating it feels. So many of these conditions are visible and because they are so noticeable, they tend to make sufferers feel self conscious and ashamed about the state of their skin.

Thankfully, this oil can help eliminate flares and outbreaks that usually accompany dandruff, eczema or acne. If you are suffering from dandruff, try a few drops of the oil in your regular shampoo. For eczema or acne, it's best to apply it directly to the affected area. You can use it as a spot treatment or mix it with some coconut oil and treat the patches of affected skin.

Toothaches

If you're having trouble with your teeth or if you find that some teeth are aching or causing you pain, the first thing that you need to do is examine your oral health regimen. If you are being inconsistent with your mouth and not taking care of it the way that you should, you need to increase your diligence with your oral care.

Thankfully, you don't have to suffer through a throbbing tooth because red cedarwood oil can help. By placing a drop of oil on the tooth that is affected, you will start to notice the pain subsiding after some time. Do not compromise the health of your teeth or gums because they are extremely important.

Arthritis

Because of its pain relief abilities, the oil is great to rub into your hands and feet, or any of your joints if you suffer from arthritis. Mix it with a carrier oil, in order for it to last much longer and apply it to all the problematic spots on your body. Massage the oil in deeply and evenly. You'll start to notice a change in your mobility, range of motion and pain after using the oil consistently.
