Today's essential oil exploration brings us to the flowering plant named cardamom. This plant is a part of the ginger family. Its roots are specific to Southeast Asia and have traditionally been added to Indian teas and sweets to add a minty, cool flavor.
Cardamom is usually found to be balsamic, spicy, fruity, or warm. The essential oil form is derived from distilling the seeds, after they have gone through a lengthy and rigorous drying process. Included below are the most prevalent ways in which cardamom essential oil can be used to improve health.
Antispasmodic
Cardamom is known to have positive effects on respiratory and muscular spasms. This means that it is a great aid for asthma, cramps, muscle pulls and whooping cough. The relief that can be obtained for those who suffer with any of these ailments is extensive.
What's more is that it can be used as a replacement for those expensive and sometimes harsh medications. Using it as a topical aid for any type of muscle cramps or spasms, that high level athletes experience, is also recommended.
Stimulant
This oil specifically has properties that have been said to potentially help those suffering with depression or fatigue. It is a natural mood booster and stimulates the production of necessary hormones and enzymes. This also helps the function of circulation, peristaltic motion and gastric juices.
So the vital metabolic functioning of the organs and crucial systems operate soundly. If you are having trouble with feeling lethargic and tired all the time, this would be a great oil to try for a bit of a mood boost.
Antiseptic
One of the great things about this oil is its high antimicrobial and antiseptic properties. Only a few drops are needed in order to disinfect and help heal wounds. One of the primary suggested uses for this oil is to disinfect and treat insect bites. Due to the discomfort and the irritation that often accompanies bug bites, cardamom oil is known to clean, treat the bite and also ease the tendency to want to itch it.
Aphrodisiac
You don't need to elicit the help of oysters to get you in the mood; a bit of cardamom will do the trick. Many decades ago, before the existence of pharmaceuticals used for this purpose, those who suffered from erectile dysfunction, impotence, sexual weakness and loss of libido, could look no farther than the cardamom plant.
The stimulant properties in the plant help aid those who just don't have the desire for sexual activities.
Vitamin Rich
Cardamom's natural properties are incredibly latent in some of the most essential vitamins and minerals including vitamins such as vitamin C, vitamin B2 and vitamin B3. It's also full of copper, iron, magnesium, potassium and calcium. Proper consumption of these specific vitamins and minerals is imperative, and this particular essential oil, could have you meet the daily recommended amount.
