Benefits Of Salvia Sclarea (Clary Sage Oil)

As is the case with many essential oils, their original names are directly associated with the plants the oil is derived from. Salvia sclarea is more readily known as the biennial herbaceous plant that yields the very powerful and beneficial oil called clary sage.

The plant has been used historically in many different contexts in a medicinal manner for centuries. The plant itself is very leafy and produces flowers that sit on wide, deep green bracts. It has many impressive purposes that may be unfamiliar to some. Here are a few of its most common uses.

Hormonal Imbalance

Many of the issues that we deal with on a day-to-day basis may be directly related to hormonal imbalance. When our hormones aren't balanced properly, it can affect our moods, sleep and even body weight. While women tend to suffer from this issue more readily than men, it is something that can also affect the male gender.

Salvia sclarea can help to deal with cramps, hot flashes, painful menstruation, and the overall imbalance of hormones. Adding a bit of clary sage oil to your bathwater is a good way to soothe this issue. You can also rub a drop or two of the oil into your lower stomach.

Helps You Sleep

Being unable to get a good night's rest can be incredibly hazardous for a number of reasons. We need sleep and rest as fuel for our daily actions. Without sleep, so many parts of our personality change. We can become less focused, less mentally keen and less able to do what we need to.

Insomnia is a real issue that millions suffer from that only adds to stress and can make medical conditions worse as sleep is so vital to the body. Add a couple of drops of clary sage oil into an oil burner or a diffuser to provide your bedroom with a sense of calm and relaxation that will promote restful sleep.

Helps Lower Blood Pressure

High blood pressure can be a symptom of many health concerns, namely things like heart disease, diabetes and organ issues. When blood pressure is high, it can be exceptionally difficult to feel like you can get things done or to relax fully. It can cause unwanted stress on the body, fatigue and lead to those health conditions mentioned above.

Clary sage oil helps to boost blood circulation which helps to lower blood pressure. This helps to support the overall function of the organs and helps take unneeded stress from your body.

Kills Germs

Pesky germs is literally everywhere. This oil specializes in the ability to fight off fungal and germ infections. It can also be used as a barrier to prevent those infections from occurring. As an antiseptic, this oil can be used to clean cuts and scrapes while also preventing any type of infection from taking over the skin.
