If you’re quarantining at the moment, you don’t have to worry about how you’ll take care of your skin on your own. Here is a guide that will help you understand the basics and do a good job with your skin and body.
Find the right cleanser for at-home skincare
Over the day, we go through so many things. You may lead a really busy life without enough time to think about your face all the time.
If you wear makeup all the time, you need to know that it is essential to keep your face as clean as possible. Not only when it comes to removing makeup, but you should have your face well cleaned even before applying any makeup. You may not realize it, but your face might be a home for dead skin cells unless you clean it properly.
Not only that, oil, dirt, and pollutants from the air can also remain on your skin if you don’t use a cleanser. A cleanser keeps your pores clear and it’s the best defence against acne or similar skin conditions. When choosing the right cleanser for you, make sure to find one for your skin type. Make sure to cleanse no more than twice a day and do your best to adjust your routine to the skin type.
Use serums for at-home skincare
Serums are also pretty important features of a good skincare routine. Once you’ve realized what your skin type is, you should keep doing your research. The next important thing to find out is what your skin lacks or needs and to provide it through the suitable serum.
Depending on your skin’s needs, you may go for a serum with vitamin C or one with retinol. When you get the serum you need, you should apply it properly for it to work as it should. For instance, a vitamin C serum is best when used in the morning, before you apply your sunscreen. On the other hand, retinol and prescription retinoids are best when used at night.
Clean your makeup tools for at-home skincare
Before we get to the next step in your skincare routine, you should remember that clean tools are the best for taking care of your skin. If you use dirty brushes and sponges, not only will your makeup look bad, but you could also damage your skin in various ways. These kinds of applicators, when not cleaned properly, can cause blemishes and become a home for bacteria.
Cleaning them is essential and it’s not even that hard. All you need is a mild soap or a shampoo.
Make sure to dampen brush heads under the faucet and apply the soap or shampoo. Rinse them with warm water and let them dry. As soon as they dry out, you may use them again. Another important thing is the kind of towels you’re using. Make sure to pick out only the softest materials for your skin in order not to irritate it in any possible way.
Moisturize regularly for at-home skincare
Keeping your skin hydrated is everything. Every type of skin needs hydration and moisturizing. Even if you have oily skin, don’t believe myths that are saying that you shouldn’t apply these kinds of products. Instead, do your best and believe the research done throughout the years.
However, if you do have oily skin, don’t use any moisturizer you find. On the contrary, find one that is lightweight and gel-based. The moisturizer should be noncomedogenic and it shouldn’t block your pores. On the other hand, if you have dry skin, then you should get one cream-based moisturizer and let it do its magic.
Use sunscreen regularly for at-home skincare
Sunscreen is a must-have in any well-developed skincare routine. Not only does it save your skin, but sunscreen can also prevent your skin from developing melanoma. You should apply sunscreen every day, no matter the season or UV index outside. Even during winter, being exposed to sunlight can be pretty harmful.
You should apply your sunscreen at least 15 minutes before you get outside. That is the time needed for the sunscreen to activate. If you have darker skin, make sure to use more sun protection. That is because hyperpigmentation is much harder to correct.
Taking care of your skin isn’t just nice, it’s necessary. It may require some time or money, but these investments are so worth it. Once you start seeing the results, you’ll be sorry you didn’t do these things before!
