Achieving And Maintaining Matte Skin

Fashion trends change so quickly it can be hard to keep up, and trends on skin care and makeup are no different. Sometimes a natural look with little to no makeup is popular; sometimes a lot of makeup is used to make a statement. Some phases bring out dewy or glowing skin; and now, matte skin is growing in popularity.

Relaxed Appearance

Matte skin is not shiny or glowing, but relaxed and has an appearance more similar to powder then a heavy sheen or thick makeup. It’s not quite as powdered as white powdered makeup from centuries past, but certainly has a more flat look than more recent trends.

This appearance for skin is created using powder makeups rather than liquid foundations. Skin cleaning and moisturizing continues as normal, and all types of looks can still be achieved with the rest of the makeup.

Allow Skin To Breathe

This is a great choice for those who want to be able present a wide range of looks with their makeup but have a put-together and comfortable appearance. It may be harder to achieve for those with naturally oily skin, but this can be helped with blotting pads, primers, and the correct foundation choice.

Matte skin is simply easier to maintain. You have a powder, often with SPF built in - because we have to take care of the skin to keep it beautiful - and apply as needed. You don’t have to take it all off and start again when you make a mistake. You don’t need brushes and sponges and liners, just a compact and an applicator. One product, apply as much as needed, done. This creates a light and free feeling that allows skin to breathe and doesn’t feel cakey or weighed down, and it is less likely to clog pores.
