Do you have an aloe vera plant at home? If you do, you’re in luck for having the most natural and magical ingredient for prime skin care within easy reach. Open one of the leaves and you’ll find a clear gel, one that has been used for ages to soothe skin.

It does more than soothe sunburn though. It can help with many other skin concerns, making it something worth keeping around at all times.

  1. Relieves Irritation

Since it’s good with sunburn, you’d be right to assume that aloe vera can soothe other irritations like eczema and psoriasis for example. It contains compounds like acemannan which suppresses inflammation to bring relief.

  1. Is Incredibly Hydrating

Aloe vera is used in many skincare applications because it brings hydration back to the skin without feeling greasy. In addition to replenishing hydration deep down, it helps the top layer of skin adhere better for a smoother and softer appearance.

  1. Stops Acne

With its anti-inflammatory properties plus high content of salicylic acid, aloe vera is great for those with acne. Salicylic acid is a natural exfoliant that helps unclog pores so skin will become clearer and smoother when you use aloe vera products.

  1. Reduces Visible Signs Of Aging

Aloe vera helps boost collagen and elastin production in your skin. This helps smooth out wrinkles and give a youthful appearance. It also contains zinc which is known to tighten up pores. And on top of all that, aloe vera has a high content of antioxidants that knock free radicals off their path of skin destruction.

  1. Helps Get Rid Of Dark Spots

Dark spots can easily make you look years older which is why you should grab some aloe vera right away. It stops tyrosinase, an enzyme that creates skin discoloration. And thanks to those antioxidants, it can help fade away sun damage that has already been established.

It’s important to make a smart choice when buying aloe vera. If you don’t have an aloe vera plant, you should go for the purest concentration of aloe that you can find. Always read the labels to be sure the aloe vera content is high. If it’s not, chances are it’s filled with preservatives, colors, fragrances, and thickeners which will do your skin no favors.

There’s no such thing as a 100 percent content for aloe vera so don’t be fooled by labels. Wording is everything and if you see 100% gel that in no way means it’s pure aloe vera. The best you can look for is 99% pure aloe vera on the label or find a brand that lists aloe vera as the first ingredient.

Discover better skin health all around when you start using aloe vera in your skincare routine!
