When you eat right, you’re less likely to have cavities or other dental issues. Sugary drinks like sodas are terrible all around and can ruin your teeth. Save the sweet treats for occasional enjoyment instead of making it a daily thing and you’ll be on your way to healthier, cavity-free teeth.
Follow Brushing With Mouthwash
Many mouthwash products on the market today can help reduce plaque. By reducing plaque, you reduce your chances of getting cavities.
Go For Sugarless Gum
The more saliva flowing in your mouth, the less likely you are to get cavities. Chewing gum can help with that, though it’s important you choose one that is sugarless. The American Dental Association (ADA) has a seal of acceptance on sugar-free gum brands that it approves so look for those!
But what happens if you have a cavity? The only way to know and to prevent it from becoming a more serious situation is to visit your dentist. If you do have a cavity, your dentist will fill it. You can find out more during your appointment on how to perfect your brushing and flossing techniques.
You can also ask your dentist about having a dental sealant applied. It’s a protective coating that helps shield your teeth from bacteria and plaque. These are more often applied for children, to protect permanent teeth, but adults can benefit from having the sealant applied too.
