Causes Of Tooth Sensitivity
There are several reasons for tooth sensitivity including cavities, a fractured tooth, or worn enamel. Some people have tooth sensitivity for the same reason as their parents. Tooth sensitivity may also be caused by some treatments such as whitening, straightening, or nerve damage from oral surgery, including wisdom tooth removal.
How Can I Prevent It?
If you feel tooth sensitivity, you need to contact your family dentist. Normally, you can prevent it by taking steps such as cleaning your teeth regularly by brushing twice a day, flossing, regular dental checkups, and practicing good oral hygiene. These are the best ways you can keep your teeth and gums good and healthy.
Your dentist will first determine the cau
se of your tooth sensitivity; then you can have a treatment prescribed. If it is a normal reason then you can prevent it with home remedies. Otherwise, if it is caused by serious diseases, your dentist will make a decision to alleviate it.
Unfortunately, if you are affected by tooth sensitivity due to enamel abrasion or gum-line recession, it is not something you can cure using the normal cleanliness process. Instead, try brushing with desensitizing toothpaste. It is available in most drugstores. It contains some ingredients that diminish sensitivity.
When the people dont clean their teeth regularly, carbohydrates feed bacteria, which coat the teeth with a substance called plaque. The bacteria also create acid, which irritates teeth, especially if you are already affected with tooth sensitivity problems. You need to keep your teeth clean to help prevent tooth sensitivity. At least two times a day, you need to brush your teeth properly, especially about half an hour after eating food and before going to bed, and floss at least once a day.
When you buy a toothbrush, make sure the bristles are soft. Often, people use very hard toothbrushes that cause bleeding and swelling gums that irritate teeth. A soft toothbrush is available in any dental care section and shouldnt be too expensive. It will help to prevent tooth irritation and will also be comfortable to brush your teeth with.
There are many causes of tooth sensitivity. Many are avoidable. There are also several treatments for it. If tooth sensitivity comes on suddenly, consider seeing your dentist. It may be something they need to treat.Smoking is a great cause of tooth sensitivity and people who smoke a lot have this problem. Some people also chew tobacco, which is more harmful for teeth and gums. They think that it is a bit safer than smoking cigarettes, but it is more serious. If you chew tobacco, it will cause gum recession, which is a major cause of gum sensitivity and decay.
