Superfoods And Weight Loss - Part 1

Trusted Health Products

You are what you eat: vitamins, minerals, enzymes, pesticides, proteins, pollutants, saturated fats, high fructose syrup, artificial sweeteners, organic veggies, environmental toxins, carbohydrates, carcinogens. You are what you eat!

Just image it: a food so jam-packed with vitamins, proteins, enzymes, antioxidants, and other vital nutrients that it helps you thrive and enjoy optimal health. Wouldn't that be super? Well there are dozens of such foods, superfoods, and they can undo a lot of the damage done to our bodies by that toxic buffet we call the great American diet.

You Are Here

Super! But now what? Where to start? Well, first you need the medical equivalent of one of those shopping mall-style directories to tell you where you are - your general state of health, that is. Your age, weight, daily routine, job, level of physical activity, health issues, and personal health goals - all of these should factor into your dietary regimen and in choosing the superfoods you need to start living a super life.

But unless you have a food allergy, any or all of the superfoods readily available at your farmers market, health food store, or grocery store should boost your metabolism and catapult you into a healthier lifestyle. And better still, superfoods are engineered to make your body function properly, regulate your appetite, and restructure your physique. Translation: superfoods are terrific for helping you lose weight.

What Makes A Superfood So Super?

Superfoods, like kale, spirulina, apples, oats, lentils, spinach, kidney beans, salmon, goji berries, blueberries, and myriad others, have several important things in common: they're all densely packed with the most important nutrients your body needs to be strong and healthy. They're stuffed with phytonutrients and bereft of toxins like growth hormones, pesticides, and other inedible chemicals.

Orange You Glad

Some of the foods we have eaten all our lives have become so familiar that we take them for granted. Well, we shouldn't. Instead we should take them every day. One such food, the orange, is an American favorite. Originally from Asia, oranges are one of the tastiest and most popular fruits in the world. They're also one of the best fruits you can eat - the organic, non-GMO variety, please. A potent source of vitamin C, phytochemicals and antioxidants, oranges promote heart health, and help prevent cancer in the breasts, mouth, lungs, and stomach; as well as preventing strokes and diabetes. To squeeze all the life-giving benefits from this amazing fruit, don't just settle for the juice. An orange is a whole food, so eat the whole thing. Even the peel is a zesty source of fiber.

In part 2 of this series, we will explore the veracity of the old adage: An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away. Bon apptit.
