A Dental Discussion With Dr. Saul Pressner, DMD

Trusted Health Products

Dr. Saul M. Pressner is highly trained in all phases of dentistry and has been in practice since 1981. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and earned certification in Family Dentistry from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine where he served a two-year family dental residency. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.

What procedures and dental technology/treatment methods do you specialize in and why do you use them?

I do not specialize. I am a general dentist who treats patients in all disciplines of dentistry as per my level of expertise. I try to preserve as much tooth structure as possible.

What dental problems do you see the most?

I see many patients who have been traumatized by overly aggressive dental treatment methods when simpler and less costly modalities may have succeeded.

What are the main concerns your patients ask about?

I try to teach my patients about the relationship between oral hygiene and certain systemic diseases. I try to teach them about biomimetic, tooth conserving dentistry and the advantages of this for the long-term health of their dentition.

What is your dental philosophy and what do you try to accomplish with your work?

I am very empathetic and skilled in treating patients who are either very anxious, fearful and/ or nervous about receiving dental care. Our staff includes several dental hygienists, one of whom has a masters in psychology. Our receptionists and dental assistants are very concerned with helping patients who are fearful of dental treatment.

What has been the highlight of your career?

The main highlights of my career thus far have been giving a lecture at my dental school this past January on biomimetic dentistry and also volunteering my dental services at DVI dental clinic in Israel, a clinic which treats underprivileged children of all religions in Jerusalem. I am an Alleman-Deliperi institute certified biomimetic dentistry instructor. Recently I gave two lectures on biomimetic dentistry - one at Penn Dental Medicine, my alma mater, and the other at Columbia University School of Dentistry. Additionally, I have written several articles for the Keystone Explorer.

Anything else you'd like readers to know?

Our office offers music and relaxation techniques to make patients feel more comfortable. The first appointment is usually a getting to know you visit. We try to find out about your fears and your past dental experience and suggest methods to help you overcome them. We work at a pace that is comfortable for the patient.
