Beauty Is More Than Skin Deep With Aloe Vera Juice

Mirror, mirror on the wall.. if you're dodging the sun, battling smog and other airborne pollutants, using toxic makeup, or eating non-organic processed foods, the reflection in your mirror may not be as healthy as it could be.

In addition to displaying several lovely specimens to adorn my home, I used to keep one or two aloe vera plants in my kitchen exclusively for medicinal purposes. Id apply the gel directly to burned, bitten, or braised skin, and it worked like a dream. Among the nutrients they contain are vitamins B, C, and E, as well as folic acid. Both aloe plants and juice were staples in our household.

Be A Wise Consumer

While aloe is a balm to the skin and to the digestive system, it must be used wisely.

Some aloe vera products are processed and packaged for topical use only. You should only drink aloe juice that is marketed for internal use. Do not buy aloe juice made from the whole leaf, because it will contain aloe latex. The latex can cause severe intestinal cramping and diarrhea.

Even the safer form of aloe juice, which is made from the gel, must be used carefully.

Too much can cause your blood to thin. And if you have diabetes, heart, or digestive problems, consult your doctor first, because aloe juice can interfere with medications for these conditions. Pregnant women should be especially cautious when using aloe juice.

Aloe juice can be an invaluable boon to your overall health, just be careful not to overdo it, because the old saying that too much of a good thing isn't good for you is especially true when it comes to aloe juice. Be smart and consult an enlightened physician or naturopath before adding this wonderful elixir to your diet.
