Often, pandemics bring changes to how we live. The changes might make us feel stressed, overwhelmed, and anxious without knowing what may happen next.

Sometimes, we may change our lifestyles until things return to normal. For example, when Covid-19 struck, the government set guidelines for all Americans to observe social distancing, wear masks and observe hygiene measures to curb the infection rate.

Some of the rules set by administrations may make people lonely, especially if they aren’t required to interact normally. Since we love socializing, that may affect most people’s lives and leave them sad and lonely. Whenever facing a pandemic that is the most crucial time to watch your wellbeing and mental health.

The following are the top tips to help you stay healthy, joyful, and connected during a pandemic:

1. Be Mindful of Everything You Do

Practicing mindfulness and concentrating on the current situation will give you a sense of belonging. Experts have proven the practice of mindfulness as the best way to keep off loneliness, stress, and anxiety during a pandemic where there is limited socialization allowed.

Practicing mindfulness must not be complicated and thorough. You can practice it in all the activities you engage in. For example, you can practice mindfulness while having your meals at a place without distractions.

Take time to enjoy the food. However, if you decide that you are going to go out in public don't forget to bring and wear your safety respirator mask to protect yourself and others around you.

You may also practice mindfulness while breathing since it will ultimately benefit your health. Take long, slow breaths to relax your nervous system and provide your mind with inner peace.

You must be aware that nervousness may cause you to breathe faster. If you feel anxious or stressed, breathe slowly and count from one to five to feel relaxed in your mind.

It would be best to practice mindful thinking when experiencing negative feelings. If you experience something that makes your emotions rise beyond control, the best thing to do should be to accept the happening without reaction.

Find something you love doing and use it to express what you feel at that time. You may choose to paint, write journals, confiding to someone you trust for help, among other things.

2. Always Consume A Healthy Diet

Your diet should always be healthy and balanced to help you have a proper immune system. Consume vegetables and fruits in large portions, healthy proteins and fats, and different varieties of whole grains.

Also, drink lots of fluids to keep your body hydrated, and don’t take too much black tea and coffee because they contain excessive amounts of caffeine. It would be best to take herbal teas because of their various health benefits.

3. Find Ways of Staying Connected with Your Loved Ones

If you face a pandemic such as Covid-19 that makes you stay away from your loved ones, find ways to reconnect with them. Through technology, you can keep connected to your friends and family while making sure everyone stays healthy.

Use applications such as Skype and Zoom to communicate with others 24/7. You may also play games or chat with others through Facebook or WhatsApp. In addition, take time and write a letter to that friend or family member that you haven’t talked to for a long time.

4. Find Activities to Help You Remain Active

You may choose different activities such as jogging, gardening, cooking, and arranging your home, among others, to enable you to stay active. Your body will remain flexible by exercising at your preferred time of the day.

It would be best to have a daily routine since it will help you stay active and healthy during the pandemic. A good option instead of going to the gym would be exercising in the comfort of your own home.

5. Find Entertaining Things to Do

Staying entertained and busy during a pandemic will keep you away from boredom and stress. You can listen to your favorite music, watch movies, play indoor games, learn a new skill or check out some tutorials from the internet.

6. Look for the Right Resources to Provide You with Proper Information

During a pandemic, it is possible to experience information overload. Since it could lead to anxiety and stress, knowing where to check for the information you need is essential.
