Pregnancy is a new experience for first-time mothers. You get to experience changes in your body that will last for months. Also, experienced mothers still claim every pregnancy is different.

There are lots of things revolving around pregnancy that people rarely discuss. The following are 10 things about pregnancy we don't talk enough about.

1. You Can Do Exercise

When you get pregnant, you can still do simple exercises. For example, swimming is a good option since it will help reduce the stress in your body. It will also help you relax and make you feel good.

The other benefit of swimming while pregnant is that it will help you ease the discomfort you get when your belly gets bigger. Swimming also helps your heart and lungs be strong, which is necessary for a healthy pregnancy.

2. It Is Possible To Get Constipated

Some women experience constipation in pregnancy. There are different reasons why this can happen. You can help prevent a constipated pregnancy by taking good care of your diet and lifestyle. If you already have a history of constipation, you should go to the doctor for treatment.

Also, you should drink lots of water and eat foods that are good for digestion even when you are pregnant.

3. Morning Sickness

Morning sickness is the most common sign of pregnancy. It happens because your body is undergoing changes to accommodate the baby. You might feel the urge to puke or excessive exhaustion.

Some women also relate changing moods with morning sickness. There is nothing wrong with morning sickness, but it would help if you figure out what helps morning sickness.

4. You Might Get Leg Cramps

There are a lot of reasons why you get leg cramps during pregnancy. One of these is the large mass of your womb pushing the blood supply to your legs. The other reason is the increased pressure in your joints that comes with pregnancy and the resulting change of position while sleeping.

5. You May Pee a Lot

You will urinate more often during pregnancy because your kidneys are functioning at a higher rate. Also, it is not uncommon to discover blood in your urine, which is called hematohidrosis. It is a common phenomenon in the final days of pregnancy but can also occur during the first trimester.

However, if you notice blood in your urine beyond the third trimester, then this is a sign to contact your doctor immediately.

6. Bleeding Gums

The gums become sensitive during pregnancy as well. You might also notice bleeding in your gums or bleeding after brushing your teeth. There are many reasons for this, from minor infections to tooth decay. However, the best way to deal with this is by doing a thorough dental exam and cleaning your mouth regularly.

7. You May Change Your Routine

It would help if you made some changes when pregnant because it will affect you physically and emotionally. Leaving aside the physical changes, you also need to change how you handle stress and socialize with your friends and family.

For example, you should avoid stressful situations because they can worsen your condition and make you feel bad. You should also spend time with your loved ones since this will make you feel better. Finally, it is also important to take care of yourself physically and emotionally for overall good health.

8. Changes in Skin Pigmentation

Some women notice a change in the color of their skin during pregnancy. It is due to the amount of ultraviolet light that your skin absorbs during pregnancy. The result, however, is just temporary tanning of your skin, but it can make you feel more confident and show that you are doing well with your pregnancy.

9. You Might Experience the Nesting Instinct

Some women develop the nesting instinct during pregnancy. They feel that they need to clean and organize their environment to ensure their baby will have a safe place. It is okay to feel this way. However, you need to make sure that you are doing it healthily.

10. You Might Have Problems Concentrating

It is common in the third trimester to feel tired and sleepy all the time. Also, you might have problems remembering things that happened recently. If you experience such changes, understand that your brain is working faster than normal. As a result, you get exhausted quickly, leading to forgetfulness.

Conclusion

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing, but there are other aspects of it that we do not talk about enough. And it is time that we speak in a more realistic way about pregnancy.

Every expecting mother has a different experience. And the more we share our experiences the more likely it is that an expecting mother is going to finally relate to another. You could help them feel less alone with what they are going through during this life-changing time.
