Treatment For Mouth Sores

Trusted Health Products

Sometimes you may experience sores in your mouth that can be very painful and make it uncomfortable to eat or even talk. While some people may be more susceptible to dealing with and suffering from canker sores or mouth sores, these sores are a pretty ubiquitous issue and most people have had at least one in their life. Getting rid of those pesky sores can seem really difficult, especially if they happen to reside in random, hard-to-reach spots of the mouth. Here are some popular treatments for dealing with mouth sores.

Coconut Oil

This is a great treatment for canker sores or mouth ulcers because it has a pleasant, mild taste that won't be jarring when it makes its way to your taste buds. The thing about treating sores in your mouth is that you'll inevitably end up tasting whatever you use to coat the sore. Coconut oil is a great option because it's antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and has a lovely texture. The oil's components will help to eliminate the bacteria that can cause sores to grow and get worse, while also helping the sore to heal more rapidly.

Clove Oil

Clove oil is not as tasty as the coconut oil option but incredibly potent and effective. Putting a drop of clove oil on a Q-tip and dabbing it onto your canker sore will give you a nice tingly effect that even turns the area slightly numb. This is preferred to help with the pain and irritation that is often experienced when suffering from a canker sore. You may often find yourself rubbing your lip or tongue against it out of habit, which only further irritates it and increases pain. Clove oil, often used in many dental products, contains eugenol which is a powerful pain killer that will definitely help ease the discomfort.

Honey Rub
It's best to use the most organic, raw honey that you can find. Due to the antibacterial nature of honey, this is another option that will delight your taste buds. The anti-inflammatory properties are also really effective in properly targeting what makes the sores in the mouth the most painful and difficult to treat. Just a little dab of the honey put directly on the sore should do the trick.

Aloe Vera

One of the most soothing entities in the natural care realm is aloe vera. It can be used for a myriad of things but most notably it is the common treatment option for a really bad sunburn. Its cooling and soothing effects can be incredibly beneficial to a hard to get rid of canker sore. It's important to get the naturally existing gel, not the green kind that comes in a tube. The latter is usually laced with chemicals or other ingredients you don't want to put in your mouth. Just a little bit of the gel placed on the sore will do the trick. Alternatively, you can put a teaspoon of the gel into some warm water and use it as a mouth rinse.
