The best advice anyone can give you is to "love the skin you're in." But what if that skin is aging, dull, and acne-prone? Here's some good news, you can change it! You don't have to live with acne or sagging skin, and you don't have to spend a fortune to improve your look either. In this post, we'll cover some effective ways you can improve your skin naturally.

Contrary to popular belief, you don't need chemical products to improve your skin. It doesn't matter whether you're struggling with acne or rosacea, you can improve your skin naturally. Just a note of advice before we get to the good stuff. Skin issues have various root causes, so what works for one person may not work for another. This post touches on some of the common and most effective remedies, but you may need to try more than one or a combination to see what’s best for your skin.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is one of the most commonly used natural remedies for acne because it has very powerful anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Many people rely on this oil to calm redness and inflammation. But since tea tree oil on its own can be harsh, it's best to dilute it with other natural oils like almond and avocado oil.

Frankincense

When you hear the word frankincense, you might think of a bible story about the three wise men. But there's a reason frankincense has been valued for so many centuries. When it's used in oil form, it can be extremely healing to the skin. When applied topically, frankincense has cytophylactic properties that may reduce the appearance of wrinkles and skin discoloration. Frankincense also stimulates the growth of new cells, so it can help speed up wound healing.

Ylang Ylang

Ylang ylang acts as a natural moisturizer, but it also has antimicrobial properties that can help reduce redness and skin irritation. It’s often also used to help clear acne - due to its antiseptic and antimicrobial properties. Ylang Ylang oil is made from the fresh flowers of the ylang-ylang tree.

Lifestyle Changes

Most of us have tried natural remedies in the past, but if you’re still engaging in damaging lifestyle choices, there’s a limit to how much any remedy will be able to heal your skin. So if you want to create intense and lasting changes, you may need to change your lifestyle.

If you smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, or take illicit drugs, it's time to stop. In various ways, these things are detracting from your overall health. When you take in toxins, they must find a way out. For many people, it's through the skin - among other elimination sources.

If you’re struggling to quit your bad habits, get help from an alcohol or drug recovery program. It’s not an easy path, but it’s one that will open up many positive changes in your life. Improved skin is merely a side effect of such positivity.

When you don’t love your skin, it can be difficult to maintain confidence in yourself. After all, the skin is our largest organ and often the first thing people notice. But chemicals aren’t the answer. Try these remedies to improve your skin naturally.
