Apple cider vinegar has a wide range of uses from cooking to skin care. While there are few studies and little scientific research on the long-term effects of using apple cider vinegar, its popularity as a skincare option has grown and it is widely accepted as beneficial for many skincare concerns.

It is often used to clear acne, decrease dark spots and discolorations, help reduce signs of aging, and exfoliate in support of clear and healthy skin.

Acne And Apple Cider Vinegar

Acne is caused by the buildup of residue, including dry or dead skin cells, dirt, and environmental pollution. To keep skin clear of acne it is necessary to clean the skin regularly and to reduce and remove buildup within the pores.

As an acid, apple cider vinegar works well to help clear the pores and to remove the dirt and any dead or damaged skin cells from the pores, allowing them to remain clean and clear. When skin is clean and pores are clear, then acne is significantly less likely to occur and most instances will resolve quickly.

This vinegar also assists in balancing the pH of the skin and helps control the amount of oil that is created, keeping pores clear from oil buildup and residue. When used as a toner it will also help pores remain closed, which limits buildup that can occur within the pores or block them, keeping down recurrences.

Dark Spots And Apple Cider Vinegar

The acid aspect of the vinegar also helps to balance discoloration and dark spots that can occur. It has properties that encourage the removal of unhealthy skin cells and encourages the growth of new and healthy cells.

This brings balance to the skin tone and reduces the occurrence of age spots and sun spots, allowing for even skin tone and balance. Both the exfoliating properties and the nutrient boost to skin promote the healthy cell growth that maintains the balance in skin tone and the even skin color, while the malic acid alters the production of melanin that colors the skin.

Skin Aging And Apple Cider Vinegar

As skin ages it will show signs of damage brought on by age, sun, exposure to environmental factors, marks from sunburn and acne breakouts. The nutrients and the exfoliation provided by apple cider vinegar - and by providing the necessary vitamins required - the skin become less likely to develop any signs of aging and slows the aging process.

By helping to remove the damaged and dead cells, along with dry skin cells and other buildup, the skin has the space and nutrients to grow healthy and clear.

In the growing skin care industry an ingredient that can in some way address most skincare concerns is valuable and will become widely popular rather quickly. Apple cider vinegar is one example.

By balancing the pH of the skin, adding nutrients to help skin grow healthy, working as an exfoliant to clean skin, and slowing the signs of aging, apple cider vinegar is becoming a regular ingredient in several skincare products and routines.
