5 Things You Need To Do To Boost Your Skin’s Elasticity

They say some things get better with age, but your skin isn’t one of those things. As you grow older, your body isn’t as efficient with creating collagen and elastin, two proteins that give skin structure and elasticity. So skin then thins out, sags down, and becomes more fragile.

If you don’t want the visible signs of aging to take hold, you’ll have to take control of your skin’s elasticity. Do these five things and you’ll virtually turn back the hands of time, or at least slow them down to a major crawl!

  1. Don’t smoke

If you’re already a non-smoker, that’s great! But if not, smoking really speeds up the decomposition of collagen and elastin. It also tears down estrogen levels that keep skin firm and supple. Unfortunately, the damage you may have now is here to stay but you can stop more damage from smoking by quitting now.

  1. Always use sunscreen

You probably slather it on when you run outdoors or go for a swim, but even those daily bits of sun exposure can turn into the premature signs of aging. When you sit in your car on the expressway on your way to work, walk to and from your car, or sit by a window, you’re getting harmful UV ray exposure, even when it’s cloudy outside. Always apply a daily formula to protect your skin.

  1. Practice healthy habits

Good nutrition, plenty of hydration, and ample exercise can all help you look years younger. These things promote increased blood flow throughout your body which stimulates new cell growth, including for skin.

  1. Rest up

Staying up late to finish work or watch more TV reduces your sleep time. When you don’t get enough sleep, you don’t leave enough time for your skin to repair itself. Another benefit of more sleep is that your skin won’t look puffy or tired, so pull up the covers and turn out the lights!

  1. Use the right products and skincare routine

Proper maintenance of your skin is essential for how it looks. You can’t expect your skin to have bounce and firmness when you don’t give it external nourishment too. But what you use on your skin also counts. Choose formulas that have natural ingredients that are backed by scientific research.

And don’t forget that your skin type is an important consideration. If you have oily skin, don’t use products intended for dry skin and vice versa. It’s important to choose what works for you to maintain your best appearance.

By following these tips, you’ll find your skin holds onto that supple bounce and exudes healthfulness from head to toe!
