Daily routines are important for your health and wellness. What things do you include in your daily routine? How much have you even thought about it?

You probably have a routine and a set of habits whether you realize it or not. Take control of your daily routine and make it work for you by making sure to include these five habits.

Personal Care for your daily routine

Every child learns to take care of their personal hygiene, but you'd be surprised how many personal care habits either change with better research or simply fall by the wayside as you grow up. As an example of the first case - hair washing. Most people were raised to shower and wash their hair every day, but this has been shown to be bad for both hair and skincare.

In the second case, dental care through flossing, brushing, regular checkups and finding the best teeth aligners is perhaps the most commonly neglected personal care habit, but there are more.

Circadian rhythms are also common casualties of adult life. Who isn't guilty of staying up late and sleeping in on weekends? The good news is that there are many things you can do to help realign your circadian rhythms.

Eat Early for your daily routine

Eat a light but protein-filled breakfast early in the morning to help keep you on track for the rest of the day, and don't eat too much too late in the evening, or else you may find yourself lying awake. That said, there's a lot of individual variation with regards to nutrition, metabolism and circadian rhythms.

What works for one person may not work for other people. Try different things, be open to unusual and unexpected solutions, experiment with yourself and see what works best for you.

Hydrate Often for your daily routine

However, staying hydrated is something that tends to work for everyone, no matter their personal metabolic needs. You need water more and more often than you need food, and most people are dehydrated enough to get a headache on a regular basis.

Hydration isn't a cure-all of course, but staying hydrated can help with everything from weight loss to mood. There are lots of ways to stay hydrated throughout the day.

Water is best, obviously, but even coffee and tea can help hydrate you despite the caffeine content. Staying hydrated is especially important if you're exercising.

Physical Exercise for your daily routine

Exercise is one of the best things you can do for your health. Regular light exercise can help with all kinds of health problems, as long as you're careful and reasonable.

Making some exercise part of your daily routine is one of the best things you can do for yourself. It's wise to consult a professional for advice on what kind of exercise will be best for your goals and constraints.

Jogging, for example, can provide many benefits for most people, but for others it can be a cause of joint pain and degradation over time. Also don't forget to exercise your mind while you exercise your body.

Mental Exercise for your daily routine

Mental exercise is vital to keep yourself sharp as you age, and it can make you a sharper, more alert person overall. Mental exercise takes many forms.

Learning a new skill or a new language is a great way to challenge yourself, mentally, but some find it more frustrating than beneficial. Crosswords and other language and memory puzzles are good exercise for your reasoning and logic skills.

Even something as simple as reading can help keep you sharp and aware. Don't underestimate the power of meditation either! There are countless ways to stay mentally sharp and every reason in the world to include mental exercise in your daily routine.

Habits are the building blocks of routine. They can be good or bad.

By taking charge of your habits and making them into a healthy routine, you can make sure that your habits are good and also robust. Armed with good habits and a solid routine, you can enjoy the benefits to your physical and mental health for years to come.
