When you hear the term wintergreen, you may think of a specific fall scent or chewing gum. What many people don't realize is that the wintergreen plant has numerous qualities that can potentially help aid certain ailments.
Wintergreen oil comes from a very shrubby evergreen called Gaultheria procumbens. The minty, mentholated smell that sometimes comes from specific pain-relieving ointments comes from wintergreen. Unfortunately, those ointments may also have other ingredients that aren't so natural and may be potentially toxic.

Skin Toner And Strengthener
Well known for its ability to alleviate pain, there are many other uses for this oil. Wintergreen oil is great for the face; it helps to effectively tone and strengthen skin. It's particular helpful for skin that is acne prone. Much like tea tree oil, it has properties that directly target acne causing bacteria and lessens the amount of oil that is produced by the face. Only a few drops of the oil combined with a gentler oil is necessary. Even adding a drop or two to your natural, every-day toner will provide stunning results after only a few uses.
Also known to work well on hair, wintergreen oil is a perfect oil to keep your scalp healthy and flake free. If you've ever struggled with dandruff, you know how painstakingly difficult it can be. With just a tiny bit of this oil, your dandruff can be a thing of the past. The bacteria and yeast that often causes dandruff to form on the scalp is no match for antiseptic and antibacterial aspects of this oil. Naturally a fungi killer, you'll start to see results and a flake-free scalp in as little as a couple of days. Put a few drops in your shampoo to ward off those pesky flakes. You can also mix the oil with castor oil and treat your dandruff directly by sectioning off hair and putting the oil directly on the scalp. This multifaceted oil is a must have.
