Electromagnet radiation is a type of radiation found on our computers, phones, fitness in tracking devices, microwaves, radios, and X-ray machines. The radiation is invisible; you can't smell or even taste it, so learning and understanding how it moves is the best way to know about radiation.
The devices emit electromagnetic radiation depending on their degree level. Most of these devices that contain electromagnetic radiation are around us, which means we are at risk of being exposed to the radiation. Therefore, it is essential to know about these electromagnet devices and know how to minimize the risks of exposure.
Below are some ways you can reduce the risk of exposure to electromagnet radiation.
Ensure Your Electromagnet Fields Sources are Far away
Keep your phone away from your pocket because it still releases radiation even when you are not operating it. If you must use your phone, position it so that the antenna is facing away from you.
The antenna is where the radiation is emitted. Place it in your bag where there is some distance between your body and the bag.
Most homes today have Wifi, which is a good thing, but to reduce exposure to electromagnetic radiation, make sure you set the Wifi router far away from the dining or sitting room. When warming your food using a microwave, create a distance and step back from the microwave. Do not stand next to it because of the radiation release.
Disable Wireless Functions
Like how your phones emit radiation even when you are not using them, wireless devices are also radioactive. Examples of wireless devices include laptops, printers, and routers, among other devices which emit Wifi signals that contain electromagnetic radiation.
To reduce the risk of exposure, turn off the Wifi function whenever you are not using your devices. Make sure that your Wifi function is active only when in use. If you use a computer, you can use an Ethernet cable for internet access rather than Wifi and after you are done with your computer, turn it off.
Use Wireless Devices
When using your phone, you can use your speakerphone mode with your phone a hand's length away; this is not the safest method because you are still exposed to the radiation. The other better way is by using a wired headset or a Bluetooth emitter.
After using your phone, remember to turn the headset off. Where the situation is not very urgent, you can send a message rather than call. Why? Your phone is a bit far from your body when texting.
Only Use Your Phone Where Necessary
Using your phone while in the car is wrong. Your phone has to release more energy to get the right signal, increasing the electromagnet field radiation exposure, the same as when you are in the elevators.
Ensure your phone is in airplane mode and away from your body contact whenever possible. For the children who are more susceptible to radiation than adults, ensure they are also safe by teaching them to use speakerphone features.
Also, use your phone when it has the maximum number of bars, indicating the best reception. Ensure that you look for a model with a lower Specific Absorption Rate rating when buying a phone. This will help in the minimization of radiation exposure.
Ensure You Are Sleeping in a Radiation-free Room
If you are using a wireless router at home, do not fix it in your bedroom. Instead, keep it in a room where it is used often. Try as much as possible to keep your bedroom free from electronic radiation.
Do not even use your phone, laptops, or computers in your bedroom. Why? Because we spend more time sleeping and protecting ourselves from electromagnetic field radiation exposure should be essential.
Don't use your phone for the alarm; instead, use a battery-powered alarm clock. The extension cords should not pass under the bed or be around your bed. Also, avoid wired mattress warmers and electric blankets.
These are all viable ways that you can take to protect yourself from radiation exposure. Ensure that you take care of yourself by minimizing the risk of radiation in your body. Some studies show certain connections between electromagnet devices' radiation exposure and diseases.
