Bleeding gums are one of the worst oral problems. Bacteria invade your gums tissue around your teeth and cause them to become puffy and swollen. When aggravated, the gums will even bleed. Treating bleeding gums is a rather easy task if done right. All you need to do is take care of your oral hygiene.
Remove The Bacteria
In this day and age, technology has become so advanced that most people consult online dentists or read up on their problem on medical websites. However, a dentist or primary oral healthcare provider is the only person who should diagnose your teeth and provide a solution. Luckily, the only true treatment for bleeding gums that even a dentist will recommend is the removal of the originating bacteria.
Use A Good Mouthwash
Mouthwash is typically an antiseptic solution that you gargle in your mouth and wash your mouth with. The great thing about most mouthwash is that it removes approximately 99.99 percent of all harmful bacteria. This is crucial in treating bleeding gums. When bacteria are continuously removed from your mouth, the severity of bleeding gums is reduced. If your bleeding gums are severe you may want to swish the mouthwash within your mouth gently to reduce the pressure on your gums.
Use A Small Soft-Bristle Toothbrush
Another easy treatment for bleeding gums is to switch to a small soft-bristle toothbrush. With a smaller toothbrush, you have greater control over the areas you brush. Of course, this does mean that it will take you longer to brush your teeth. However, with greater control there are significantly less chances that the brush will touch your gums. The reason you should switch to a softer bristle is for assurance. In case your toothbrush does make contact with your gums, which it most likely will, it will cause the least amount of irritation.
Use Clove Oil
Clove oil is known as for its anesthetic and healing properties. When applied to the gums, it helps reduce the pain caused by bleeding gums. However, this should only be applied when the gums are not bleeding. This ensures maximum effectiveness. The anesthetic properties will reduce the pain experienced and the healing properties will help treat bleeding gums.
Treatment During Bleeding
Not only is it important to treat bleeding gums when they are not bleeding, you should also buy equipment you will need to treat them while they are bleeding. If you gums start to bleed, you can control the bleeding by using a gauze pad. Simply soak the pad in ice-cold water and apply the pad to the gums with a little bit of pressure.
Bleeding gums can be easily treated as long as you follow the above treatments. However, it is highly recommended to get your dentists opinion and professional recommendation before trying any new treatments.
