It is nothing new that introverts and extroverts have different ways of having fun and enjoying their spare time. But everyone knows that introverts thrive when they are on their own and that they don't rely on others to have fun, they are best on their own.

Introverts are known to draw their energy from solitude and they don't need to be surrounded by people to feel good, it's actually the opposite. Even though on most days we can find something to occupy our spare time, some days there will be nothing that is accelerating enough to do. So, if you are having one of those days where there is nothing fun to do during your spare time here are some of the best ideas.

Stay In and Watch a Movie

One of the most popular ways to have fun in your spare time as an introvert is simply curling down on your sofa or bed and watching a movie. Not a lot of introverts will like going to the theatre, so watching a movie at home is a perfect thing to soothe someone like that.

Listen To Music

Introverts tend to be more sensitive people and they will gather and absorb the mood for everything that surrounds them. That is why you should put on some nice music and have some fun. Since you are home alone, you can throw yourself a concert and get lost in the wall of sound.

Engage In Single-player Athletic Activities

Not all introverts are nerds. Some will really enjoy being physically active, they just avoid doing sports that involve other people. If you are interested in doing sports, look into doing ones such as rowing, boxing, tumbling, golf or any other sports that are individual. Just because someone is an introvert, that doesn't mean that they are not coordinated enough to do sports. There are many successful and famous athletes who are introverts.

There is nothing that scares an introvert more than being in a mall filled with people and having to maneuver through them just to see an item that you want to buy. But luckily you can shop from the comfort of your own bed. It will allow you to shop relaxed and carefully look tough and choose your perfect pieces.


One of the most common hobbies when it comes to introverts is reading. Those who don't read, don't realize it is such a personal hobby that comes with so many different benefits. Reading is an activity that will allow you to escape reality and go into a whole new world that you choose. So, what’s better than grabbing your book and sitting down in your bean bag chairs and escaping reality.

Listen to A Podcasts

We live in an era where just about anything has its own podcast. No matter what you like you will easily be able to find a podcast that will intrigue you. You can find anything from comedy to murder mysteries or even politics. Most podcasts are free to listen to so you won’t need to spend money on them.

A hobby like this can also be educational as well as fun. It will provide you with a great escape, similar to reading. But on top of that, you can incorporate other activities while doing it or you can simply lie down and listen to your favorite murder mystery and keep your brain active by trying to solve a mystery.

Take Up Running

One of the ideal activities for introverts who like to stay active is running. It is also a great way to battle depression and keep yourself in shape. Taking up running as your hobby will provide you with so many benefits, both physical and mental.

That is because you will be able to get that runners high which will make you feel much better. It happens because your brain will release the feel-good chemicals which will make you feel relaxed and calm.

Daydreaming About A Variety Of Different Things

Most introverts are very creative and problem-solving people who like to dream and fantasize about things. There are so many things that you can use your daydreaming for. You can create short stories, draw or brainstorm to contribute to projects you are already working on. Let your mind wander and don't set a limit. Let it be free and see what comes out of it. If you are looking for a hobby that you can do outdoors but you don't want to do any kind of running or exploring, there is nothing better for you than gardening. It will allow you to be in touch with nature but also be surrounded by herbs, vegetables and fruits.

Being outside and absorbing the sunshine and fresh air will increase your happiness, reduce depression as well as anxiety. This will help you make the cooking feel less like a chore and more like something you actually enjoy doing. Even if you are someone who lives under a rock, you have heard that doing yoga has so many different benefits, and what is better to do as an introvert than make yourself feel Zen. Doing yoga has so many mental and physical benefits, which is a great way to spend your free time if you are someone who is constantly sitting and working.

Many introverts think of themselves as very strong-minded people and most of them don't have any interest in meeting new people. Because of that, introverts will rarely have the need to make plans with someone and if they happen to make plans, they will likely cancel them to spend time with themselves.

If you know someone who is an introvert don't take it personally, they are just wired differently than extroverts. It is what makes them so special.
