Are you wondering about the best ways to stay healthy? Does it seem as though a lot of advice you get is too complicated? Rest assured that you're not alone. Pouring through reams of health advice and trying to figure out effective approaches can be confusing. Instead, it's a better idea to cut through the clutter and stay focused on the basics. Here are several simple, smart ways to maintain your health.
1. Exercise Regularly
Getting sufficient exercise and healthy movement throughout the day is one of the most powerful ways you can improve and maintain your health. Exercise has both health-enhancing and life-extending benefits.
Your exercise routine doesn't have to look like anyone else's. In fact, the more you fine-tune your regimen to fit your preferences and needs, the more likely you are to stick to it. Include cardiovascular, strength, agility, and flexibility training in your plan. Be sure to get clearance from your health practitioner, and consider getting a trainer to help you exercise safely and efficiently.

2. Eat Healthily
Nutrient-dense food in reasonable portions is a solid foundation for health. Eat healthy proteins and lots of vegetables. Include healthy fats from sources like salmon, olive oil, and avocados, too. Reduce your sugar intake and be sure to stay well-hydrated.
3. Keep Appointments
Once you've made your medical, vision, and specialist appointments and screenings, keep them. Doing so will give your practitioners valuable baseline information about your health, and also help you catch issues in their early stages. Maintaining positive, long-term relationships with your health providers is a smart choice for both the present and the future.
4. Stay Balanced
Having a balanced lifestyle is a key to a satisfying, healthy life. Think of dividing your days into thirds; a third of it sleeping, a third of it working - including housework - and a third of it eating and doing what you enjoy - including enjoyable exercise. If you're able to maintain something close to this balance during the workweek, you'll notice less overwhelm and more sustained energy.
5. Sleep Deeply
Make restorative sleep non-negotiable. If getting enough sleep is an ongoing issue, don't be reluctant to seek out help from a health practitioner. Sleep is one of the most essential building blocks of health.
It is a crucial time of repair and assimilation for all systems of the body. It is critical for your well-being. With that in mind, make your sleeping ritual pleasurable and comforting. Soft blankets, soothing scents, and dim lights all help set the mood for relaxing sleep.
6. Stay Mindful
To reduce stress and help you stay aware of your deepest self, prioritize some type of spiritual or mindfulness practice. You might find it helpful to seek out a supportive church or spiritual center or find a group to engage with. Finding solo time to get closer to your spiritual side is helpful, too. Find ways to rest in the present moment.
7. Stay Connected
Spend time with people and family members who are supportive and appreciate you. Also, spend time in service to others, whether you know them well or not. Having challenges in this area? Find companionship online. You may have to go outside your comfort zone, but the effort is worth it. Staying connected with others is associated with health and longevity.
8. Stay Playful
Make recreation and play a big part of your life; you don't have to be engaged in serious tasks all of the time. In fact, if you take time out to be playful, you'll return to your responsibilities with a fresh sense of energy. Find things to do that you enjoy. The possibilities are endless; there's something for every personality type.
Keeping up your health is simpler than you think. Try these tips to feel and function your best.
